I mean come on! "Dave's the only man for them" "Sam, Sam, he's their man!" Get real! Either one of these guys should be begging to get back in with this band, yet they can't handle that fact given that they both think they run the show. There is no show with out EVH, AVH, and MA. Get the priorities straight!

I agree with whawhazat, Ed, Al & Mike are much more of a core to the product than the singer, (the music is the core element).

But to "ice the cake" a familiar voice is being requested by probably over 95% of all Van Halen fans.

If we get Dave, I think the music would be more interesting and vibrant, but with Sammy they would probably last longer and make more records. I reluctantly therefore would support a Sam return more.

If Ed, Al, and Mike put out an album of killer music with Gilbert Gottfried at the helm, at this point, I'd buy it.

I feel exactly the opposite. I would rather see one last true, honest to God blast of brilliance, than a steady stream of mediocrity by a band that is just coasting.

This is not the time to take the easy way out...

Ya know, I agree with the whole LSD thing... but I'll be happy if EVH never brings it up again! It was cute the first 100 times or so...

It will always be about Ed, no matter what Dave and Sam think. This tour is a perfect example. Whose guitar riffs are on display for the Sam and Dave tour? Might as well just call it "Tribute to Eddie Van Halen Tour" because that's what it is, save for a few Sam solo offerings. The funny thing is Ed played on some of those too.

Van Halen will always be a supreme rock act and that won't change if either Dave or Sam aren't part of the picture. Like most of the people that post at the Links I would prefer a reunion with either Dave or Sam but if Van Halen decide to go in another direction I'll support that too. The music these guys create has always been first class and that includes VH3.

Right. "Once" on 3 doesn't want me to get drunk or get laid, but hell, I've already got those songs from VH! I can't stand it when people can't accept a band for who they are but for who those people want the band to be.

    Yep!

And I think those guys know it, too.

For the most part, Van Halen legacy has been pretty much written.

" I know what you're thinking: "Do I want to watch Mard? We know that horses were very strong and could actually stop airplanes from flying away. The ones made out of stone called "statues" -- occasionally came to life and rode off is a colonial cliche. How many more times do we need to hear about how the oppressive Raj's wore villainous black capes, crafted cunning plastic masks to impersonate people, and drained all the blood from their slaves so they could keep the fluid in bottles in their dungeons? I mean, YAWN!

But if you're willing to sit through this dry sort of historical drama one more time -- or even just this dry historical review -- you will not be disappointed. In fact, some of you might just learn something they didn't teach you in school!-

Not true. You think ed could support an arena tour now on music made only after 1996?

Yes, he could tour. But there wouldn't exactly be a lot of people there to watch.

I'm not saying Ed needs Dave or Sam to make music, but he does need them for commercial success. Sure, he can probably make good music without them. But not nearly as many people will hear it.
