Since the reunion appears D.O.A., perhaps recent DLR news is a good thing.

The DLR Band circa 1999-2001 never made it to South Florida, so I don't have much to go on, but, if the reunion is dead, the rumored new line-up featuring Toshi Hiketa could be a good thing.

From the clips on his site, Hiketa appears to be a step in the right direction. Perhaps we have a return of the rightful heir to the Van Halen-Vai-Becker lineage. If VH is not happening, Dave would do well to partner with a new shredder and put together a CD of new stuff.

The DLR Band for its lousy production values and computer-generated cover art (a Commodore 64 computer, that is) was a bright spot of 1999 and may have been the best thing to come out of the VH "family" since 1996 (although Sammy's MTM and Red Voodoo have their moments, too).

Dave without a VH cover show could still be a good thing.

I agree. VH/DLR reunion looks dead as does VH. We have to look foward to solo DLR and the possible "supergroup" w/Mike & Sam aka Van Journey. That may be not to bad. There is no doubt VH is becoming/has become irrelevant in the music world. The waiting, dissing of fans and lack of communication in my view, has sealed their fate. DLR must return to become big again. That looks like a "fuggattaboutit". The last hope would be Sammy returning. Don't think that would work although it would be better than a 4th singer.
I think the writing is on the wall now, so we must embrace the former band members and their new endeavors if nothing else. It is possibly the closet thing to VH we will most likely hear for a long time to come. We should quit the petty arguing on the boards now and support DLR, Sam and Mike if the rumours come to fruition.

There is no 'may' have been, IT SHO NUFF WAZ!!!!!! I ain't lyin'!!!!!!

Dave's tours in '99 and '01 were INCREDIBLE, an' if Eddie continues to de-mystify and de-grade the Van Halen legend, then they will be the closest thang to a 're-union' tour we'll ever have!! In '99 if ya were proper stoned and piss drunk an' in the bleed seats, if ya squinted Bart kinda looked juzz like Eddie, even movin' like 'em(no Chuck Berry duck-walkin' though). I'll admit, though, that az wonderfully az Brat Walsh played in '01, I'm not sho he's in that mega-talent category like Ed, Stevie, and JB. A studio record might have proven otherwise. DLR BAND I was one of my favourite albums of the 90's(right 'hind ALAE) and I'd welcome another studio release from the mighty, mighty Diamond Dave!!!!!!

At least there's the RnR HOF iduction gig to look forward to with a re-united Van Halen...they'll probably find a way to fuck that up, too...
