considering what a pile of crap twister was and it seems as if this joke of a film had some impact on sam's departure - surely we should hold the makers of the film accountable for the bands breakup ?
also what film would have been more apt for the destruction of vh ?

My thoughts exactly. Originally posted by Canyon Carver:

Although, I must say that's definitely the first time I've heard that theory before! Hell, that's it! It was those damn makers of the movie Twister's fault! They wanted the band that performed the main song on the soundtrack to suffer the same fate as everything else in the movie did from that damn tornado!

"When I first heard "Runnin' With The Devil" on the radio, I was stunned and found myself dizzy, walking through my high school hallways thinking, "What was THAT?!"
Eddie Van Halen was so innovative and kicked so much ass, and David Lee Roth was for a time indisputably the Greatest Man in America.
If aliens came down and challenged us to a Battle of the Bands to decide the fate of Planet Earth, I would feel very confident putting early Van Halen forward as our champion." -Tom Morello

I think the work VH did for Twister brought to a head some internal problems that were festering at the time. Sam was trying to get some downtime in. The Twister deal came up. It was clearly communicated they didn't want a song about tornados but something that highlighted the human aspects of the film. Sam showed up to record with tornado lyrics which forced an on the spot rewrite and from what I've heard the friction was already at a high level between Ed & Sam. Sammy blew off the Twister work and Ed pretty much had to pull it all together himself and finish off the vocals himself. If you've ever noticed some of the vocal fills and backing vocals in the deep range are actually Ed... I never really noticed much until I heard 'How Many Say I' and the vocal range is identicle to several parts of Humans Being.
I wouldn't blame the movie but the project played a hand in the mess.
Woke up this mornin, got Blue Moon in your eyes...
