Here are a couple more from 1974 that I've always really liked ...

"It's so lonely at the top because it's so crowded at the bottom" - Diamond David Lee Roth

"The truth sounds like hate to those who hate the truth" - Todd Wagner

"Women and Children First ... The REAL Van Halen III"

Joni Mitchell was like Karen Carpenter in that they had voices that were so smooth that they were able to sing in a conversational way with a 3 octave range. crazy. There is something about both of their voices that seems to resonate at a frequency that just calms my brain despite the fact that there was always a melancholy feel to Karens' voice.
And not to overlook the Carpenters Beach Boy like goose bump producing harmonies. Yesterday Once More, Close to You.

Karen even made it look easy live.

Karen Carpenter may have had the most beautiful singing voice I have ever heard ...

Plus Karen was "instrumental" (pun intended) in convincing the parents of a lot of little girls in the 70's, including yours truly, that it was OK for a girl to take up the drums.

no and I regret giving them up in high school but I was just so bullied by the drum major that I quit in disgust. That's what happens when your foot ball player big brother steals the girlfriend of the drum major.

    Yikes.

Who is your all-time favorite drummer?

This came on Classic Rewind on Sirius earlier this morning. The original version was my niece's favorite song when she was about 5 years old. Yesterday was her 36th birthday.
