Who Screwed Van Halen???

Was it Gary Cherone?? No. They guy came in to do a job

Was it Edward Van Halen?? No. He was trying to move VH to another frame of music.

The answer is THE FANS!!!

DLR die hards who didn't except Gary and the new sound of VH.

I mean sure it was not good old VAN HALEN but Gary with VH is better than what we have now!!!

I dont agree! I would rather have no VH, than Cherone in the band. I would rather have great memories of the past than the band I love being ruined by some rump ranger!

I still think that Cherone would have been more accepted if they wouldnt have called themselves Van Halen. When you think of Van Halen, you dont think of Gary Cherone, at least I dont.

How about Eddie himself. The 1996 fiasco. And then what a poor, POOR decision it was to try and legitimize a third singer and still call the band VH. It doesn't matter who the singer was, it could have been Pavarotti, but there was no chance in hell of it being Van HALEN. You reap what you sow, and I guess VH doesn't really care anymore because they have all the money in the world, but all they have to do is look themselves in the mirror for their shortcomings from 1996-present. I'm just about to give up on this band.

It was Ray Danniels. [img]graemlins/irked.gif[/img] When the band lost Ed Leffler, Danniels was the worst choice for their new manager. If Danniels would have never gotten involved Sammy would still be in the band to this day and they'd probably have about three or four more successful albums and they'd still be the best rock band in the world. Unfortunately, that didn't happen.

I hate the not calling themselves Van Halen idea. That's Eddie's and Al's name! you still have 3/4 of the original lineup intact with a new singer...you don't change the name of the band for 1/4 of the band...who is not named Van Halen.

I believe Ray Daniels,Eddie and Alex Screwed Up big time. Why because they let greed take over when sammy was on his way out.Hired Gary Cherone for probably less of a cut.And hired Dave back in to sell The Best Of cd. Every Fuck Up they made was because of GREED....end of story

If you look at this from the standpoint of not who IS to blame, but who could have helped all of this from happening? A great manager.

A great manager's job is to keep everything in check and not let stuff like this happen. So then all you have left is Ray Danniels.

I always looked at his name favorably for years when I saw it identified with Rush. Figured he did a good job there, however, those personalities leave little for fucking stuff up; no giant egos to balance. But Rush isn't mega-sellers -- enough to make a living off of but not get filthy, stinking rich as the manager. So with Van Halen, Danniels jumped into a situation and history he was inexperienced -- not to mention unprepared -- to deal with. And he did it because he smelled big, fat money.

Eddie and Alex are also partly responsible for being gullible -- an embarrassingly niave seeing as though they'd had 20 years of experience in the rock industry -- and going with Danniels plans.

So now back to blame: greed.

For better or for worse, at this point in time, everything having to do with VH rests on one man's shoulders. And that man is Ed.

That said, you want to know who really screwed the band? It was every person who said, "Great idea Ed! Sounds good Ed! Whatever you want Ed! You're the boss Ed!", and never once spoke up to tell Ed when he was doing something wrong.

Unfortunately, that list includes damn near everyone...except FORD. [img]graemlins/thumb.gif[/img]
