Journey/Hagar/Van Halen Supergroup Planet Us Recording First Album

Planet Us hit the studio this week in the San Francisco Bay Area to record an album it hopes to release in 2003. The quartet features Sammy Hagar, Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, and Journey guitarist Neal Schon and drummer Deen Castronovo.

Schon tells LAUNCH that after several delays the group is anxious to finally hit the studio and put its ideas on tape:

"We were supposed to be started close to a month ago, and then our tour--(the) Journey tour--got prolonged and we ended up playing more shows, and sort of took this last month out for us. We're working through the 20th, and then we're taking off for the holidays, and then we'll be back in, like, January 1, and then we'll finish it in January, I think."

Planet Us has not yet signed with a label, and Schon says the group might release the album on its own, as Journey has done with its new EP, Red 13

Good News:
Mike has a steady gig for the better part of next year, it'll be great to hear this line up. Maybe Sam will sing about something besides Tequila. They'll probably do at least one VH song as an encore.

Bad News:
Van Halen, in addition to having no record label, manager or lead singer, now for 2003 has no bass player/harmony vocalist. It's just Ed and Al in the basement folks.

Cool thing is, too, that if they tour, Sammy said he'd like to have another double-billing.

He said he'd like to come out First w/the Waborita's and Mike A. Then have Journey do a set. Then have Planet Us close.
He said he isn't sure if they can do this, but he'd like to...

Journey won't gone on before Planet Us in a million years. Managers, let alone the other 3 band members would never allow that. I'd like to see a package tour though with Sammy/Planet Us/Journey

Well it looks like Van Halen is being laid to rest for 2003. Doesn't look like any new music until 2004 or later [img]graemlins/yell.gif[/img] Unless Mikey is gone or on his way out?? I'm so tired of this shit of no news is good news from VH and Brad's tired sig line...In VH We Trust...Get Off Your Ass Eddie ! and at least make a statement to the few fans you have left about the status of VH.Planet US will be ok but its still not VAN HALEN DAMMIT!

The next Planet US news I want to hear is that the band name has been changed to something tougher sounding, like "Pink Frilly Blouse", or something like that!!
