Just doing some searching and I stumbled on this. I realize its old, but has Brad ever shot this down?
If so, then feel free to close this.
But 23 songs in a few days? No wonder Eddie hasn't done shit since then. He must have been exhausted and needed a 3 year break.
Here it is: (from Rollingstone)
Although VAN HALEN insisted that they aren't even thinking about recruiting a new singer until after the New Year, WHITESNAKE singer DAVID COVERDALE says that's just not so. In fact, on the singer's Web site (http://whitesnake.santcugat.com/news.html), he reveals that not only was he approached after SAMMY HAGAR left, but more recently Van Halen's management company approached the singer after GARY CHERONE's exit, asking him to do some work with EDDIE VAN HALEN. Coverdale spent a few days recording twenty-three songs with VH. So is he in? "Let's just say that my management is meeting with their management, although money is not the issue," Coverdale explains. "The bottom line is I will be working with Eddie and the boys in some capacity" ...'Old Van Halen, when I was in it-classic Van Halen-makes you wanna drink, dance and screw, right? And the new Van Halen encourages you to drink milk, drive a Nissan and have a relationship.' - David Lee Roth.

Not to rip the English in any way, but this has always been an "American" band. You just have to stick to your own kind!
I know that sounds a bit lame, but I think that's really going in the wrong direction. Coverdale just isn't VH.CHICAGO WHITE SOX - 2005 WORLD CHAMPIONS
The Chicago White Sox (1901-present) - The Original SOX - Proof
The Boston Americans (1901)
The Boston Somersets (1902)
The Boston Pilgrims (1903-1906)
The Boston Red Sox (1907-present) - Proof
The Pilgrims/Americans/Somersets whatever you want to call them, have NEVER displayed "SOX" anywhere on their caps, jerseys, or merchandise, therefore they shouldn't be referred to as such. However, the White Sox have used "SOX" since 1912.
The SOX are in Chicago...we just allow the Pilgrims/Americans/Somersets to use the name.

Achievements:
Yep. For the really oldsters, we remember this idiot coming here and swearing up and down it was true. He obviously made it up. The funny thing is although that crap rumour started here on a VH board, it took MTV to ask Coverdale if it was true. Obviously it was a complete fabrication.

Coverdale and Hasselhoff, the two great rumor legacies of this site.
