It's far too long for me to post, so I'll just include the link:
http://www.knac.com/article.asp?ArticleID=1750"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."
"This is a lttle prayer dedicated to the separation of church and state. I guess if they are going to force those kids to pray in schools they might as well have a nice prayer like this: Our Father who art in heaven, and to the republic for which it stands, thy kingdom come, one nation indivisible as in heaven, give us this day as we forgive those who so proudly we hail. Crown thy good into temptation but deliver us from the twilight's last gleaming. Amen and Awomen. ."
"I think it's the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately."

My only problem with Gary Cherone is that he ruined Van Halen (besides that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?). He certainly lacks the charisma of Diamond Dave, or even Dave Lite (Sammy Hagar.)Buttocks and crotches and nipples with wings, these are a few of my favorite things!

How many of you guys watched the Freddie Mercury tribute concert back in the 90's? (I say that because I don't remember the year). As a performer, Cherone blew me away at that show...Extreme blew me away as a whole. I got a really cool MP3 of their medley of Queen tunes that they did. I own Pornografitti and I have to say it is one of the busiest rock guitar albums of all time. Nuno was just relentless on that album. I respect GC as a musician and a performer...its just that I didn't like the stuff he did with VH. I wish Extreme would get back together and crank out another album like P'grafitti. PLEASE! SOMEBODY LEARN HOW TO PLAY YOUR FUCKING GUITAR AND RELEASE A ROCK ALBUM! These bands today are making the Ramones look like virtuosos....spell check on that last word please.

yeah, i like gary too, i have all the extreme records too, and the queen memorial show was awesome, thats right... TOJ is a fucking killer, it rocks..
but in van halen he sucked, doesn´t seem to fit into the style, a few minutes ago i saw the vids of someone who postet here a link, and IMHO he sucked in singing old or new van halen tunes... it doesn´t sound right... but in extreme he was at his best i would say..."Who are you tryin' to get crazy with, ese? Don't you know I'm loco?" - Hansel, Zoolander. <br /><br />"You're talking loco and I like it!" - Hansel, Zoolander.<br /><br />"Sting. Sting would be another person who's a hero. The music he's created over the years, I don't really listen to it, but the fact that he's making it, I respect that."<br />Hansel, Zoolander

Truthfully, I like VH3. It's a good album...but not a good Van Halen album, if that makes any sense. It's not Gary's best work, but it has it's moments. Gary is one of my favorite rock vocalists of all time, but Extreme was indeed his best forum. I bought one of those "20th Century Masters" cds that Best Buy has for Extreme, and lemme tell you, it kicks ASS!

Well imagine if we just judged Dave by his Filthy Mouth album or Sammy by his Mas Tequila album. I think III is a good record and a Van Halen record. As far as experiementation goes it makes WACF and Fair Warning sound like Cassidy Brother Pop records. III is by far the band's most experimental record they really leave you out on a cliff and didn't throw you any Unchained's or Everybody Wants Some's. While it's an element I found hard to digest it's something I grew to respect.
Wasn't a big Extreme fan but I too gained a ton of respect for them at the Freddie Tribute show. They were a brilliant band. Nuno's leads were overkill though. They made Metallica sound like amatuers
The only tune I thought Gary sounded weird on was one of the Sammy tunesKnow Ralph<br />Know Van Halen<br /><br />No Ralph<br />No Van Halen

I like Gary. I think he has a good voice and something intelligent to say within his lyrics. Which isn't really something that matches with Van Halen's music or fan expectations. I think he and EVH has good chemistry, but I think they should have not called VH3 and Van Halen record. It was basically a EVH solo record with Cherone on vocals.
Gary is a good guy, he just wasn't the one for VH.
I really like the TOJ disc. I wish him the best.
Thanks for posting the interview link.

I'm glad to see such support for Gary! I actually became a Gary/Extreme fan by way of his role in VH.
It took me dozens of listens to VHIII before things really started to grow on me. Maybe the world just never gave it time.
I think it was a natural extension from 'Balance' -- they sounded tired on that record. I think Gary brought some life into the band, even if it was just for a little while.
I've said it before, but Tribe of Judah makes me think a second try with Eddie + Gary would have been unreal.

Great interview, and I'm glad Gary's going to do another TOJ record. Exit Elvis has me begging for more.

Off the topic for a second, is it me, or do a couple of tracks off of 'Exit Elvis' sound a little Halenesque?
