Live Without a Net DVD

Someone on Ebay is selling import (but region 1 encoded) dvd's of live without a net. Anyone know if they are legit?

Now it says "region 1"? It used to say "all region coded".

I have no idea if it's legit, though I bid on one just for shits n' giggles.

They are probably homemade from a VHS video tape onto a DVD burner. That's my guess.

If this is true, then depending on the quality of this person's VHS tape, and his recording equipment, it might actually be worth the $$$ to spend until the real thing eventually, and hopefully, comes along.

That's what I guessed it was, and that is why I asked here. I doubt it's an official release. If it is, we need to get them. I figure since it hasn't been released yet, LWAN may never be releaesed on DVD in America

I emailed the seller, he replied:

I didn't think laser disc players had a digital output. Even so, it would be a better copy than copying the VHS version to a DVDr. I think I'll wait for the official version.

And Ford, for once I agree with you. However, it doesn't appear ANY concert footage of VH with Dave will ever be released on DVD. I would hope LWAN will be released someday. As far as RHRN, If the editing didn't suck, I would buy it.

I have digital sound outputs on my Laserdisc player. But remember, only the sound on Laserdiscs is digital - the picture is still analogue. Although picture quality is substantially higher than VHS, LD doesn't hold a candle to DVD. My LD copy of LWAN is also suffering from "Disc Rot", where you can see lots of white speckles on your screen, this gets steadily worse over time - eventually making the disc unwatchable. This has happened to around 15% of my old LD collection, so I hope the Ebay guy has a pristine copy.

It's surprising that LWAN hasn't been officially released on DVD. If I was their manager, that would be one of the first things I would rectify.
