Mine was "Dance the Night Away". With Eddie's fingerboard work, Mikey's background vocals, and Dave's screams, I couldn't have gone wrong! I was hooked from that day on. I was 5 at the time.

it's gotta be "Pretty woman" bcoz of the Video-Clip. i only saw it once in the early 80s (on some luxembourgish/belgian TV Channel) and it just hit me full force. I taped it only years later, when i had the money to buy me a VCR.
i wish i could remember when i first heart "You really got me". it had to be on the radio. electrefying
i deeply regret that i wasn't more into classic VH in my younger years. in the mid80s i just followed all the mainstream crap like Culture Club, Depeche Mode, Wham and all that really lame bullshit. What a waste of time.
cheers,
SToRM

Mine was "eruption/You really got me". I was familiar with the Kinks version, but when I heard VH I was blown away.

I don't know if I had heard any of the songs off Van Halen (depends upon when I saw "Over The Edge", I guess) but the first song that I knew to be Van Halen was "Dance The Night Away"

Nice topic Top. I'm with naturallywired, I was force fed rock etc. while growing up. I was very familiar with The Kinks, and remember hearing YRGM VH style, and going,"What the...this isn't The Kinks" LOL.
God bless my parents for buying VHII for me and totally opening up a burly can of rock-n-roll worms as it were.I then got VHI and recognized YRGM. The rest is Van Halen history. Kick ass! Out.

Though I was just a little guy, I would have to say Runnin with the Devil.
Somehow after that, listening to my Kiss albums didn't seem so cool.
