if all this time, it was Sammy recording with the brothers VH instead of Roth? Wouldn't that be the ultimate curve ball.

It would be more like a boomerang coming back and smacking them upside the heads. Because anything other than Van Fucking HALEN after all these months of everyone (except them) saying the BAND was back would be such a disaster it would make VD III seem like album of the year. Even if a reunited Van Hagar combined the best qualities of 5150 and F.U.C.K. into a new album without a single cheeze ballad, now is NOT the time.
Not that I'm too worried about it

Van HALEN is: Dave, Eddie, Mikey, Alex. Any questions?

I've got to go with you Ford at this time. I was watching VH1 this afternoon and saw the "infamous" Sheryl Crow comment and besides that, watching the "moment" on stage I could see how it was not working, and it saddened me to say the least that in any "countdown" Van Halen is most remembered for this moment in a long and tremendous career. This is it folks! Despite all the years of groundbreaking music and innovations that have led not only to many imitations and a line of guitars that surpasses almost all before its time, Van Halen is facing the fact that they might just be remembered most for bickering, culminating with this MTV appearance. As fans, we know differently, but the media and general public, it always boils down to one single fact. Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, and even Kurt Cobain were great artists who drastically contributed and changed the face of music history. Throw Elvis in there, but he is mostly remembered for dying on the fucking toilet. The rest are mostly remembered for their deaths also. Sad to say, but think about it. What is the first thing that comes to mind with most of them? I don't want Van Halen to be remembered as a band that WAS great but fucked up because of infighting. That's why it has to be Dave, it has to be forever, and it will be great.
