Over at www.dlrarmy.com a couple of days ago, our buddy Ed6150, brought up the topic "Why doesn't this site go down like the 'Links" Brett responded by saying the heavy user traffic, yada, yada... He'd like to get a bigger web provider, but can't afford it.

The interesting part was he said he was actually thinking about GETTING RID OF THE DISCUSSION FORUM! That it doesn't seem worth it sometimes.

I'm calling out everyone here at VHLinks, to click the banners, EVERY TIME YOU SIGN ON! I would HATE to lose the forums.

to tell you the truth, a site this huge and this difficult to maintain is a burden you can't expect anyone to handle alone.

i, for one, appreciate brett's efforts and support whatever he wants to do.

i don't think for a second that he would ever want to see the discussion forums die off. at the same time, i could easily see how frustration with running them could give brett reason to reconsider whether he wants to continue with it.

it's a tough job, especially since we as fans are all in limbo right now.

kudos to brett. we'd all be alone without this place.

MARD, I know what you're saying.

But Brett explained that "clicking" banners isn't what makes money for VHLinks.

It when the banners are loaded onto the page (it's called an "impression"), that the site makes any $$$.

So every time a new banner registers on a page, an impression is made, which = $$$ for the links.

Go to the thread I started right here in the Main forum called, "Great News For VHLinks."

There's a REALLY simple way to make money for the links.

I could explain it right here, but it's already explained THERE. LOL.

Really, check it out and try it.

Brett isn't going to shut down the Links. He was pissed off and frustrated because he had spent such a long time trying to get the board back up.

I doubt Brett would shut down the links either. I know he loves it. And he has a bunch of people who love it too like me. And the other Mods who help him look after the Links.

Guys...

1. Don't get me wrong; I love this place. But, without these forums, we would NOT "all be alone." VH has had an Internet following long before VHLinks and the boards ever existed. VH will continue to have an Internet following whether these boards exist or not.

2. The Links aren't going down anyway, so why worry?
