Mike says - VH back together in the Fall

I'll believe it when I see it. Mike's track record hasn't been very good since Gary left, so I'm not going to get my hopes up. But we never thought a Sam and Dave tour would happen, so you never know.

I live in KC and heard the interview on the radio. Mike did say VH tried to get together with DLR and one word messed it up "Lawyers". He also said that VH will be back in the fall. I know that we have all heard him say things in the past that did not pan out. But, I can confirm that he made these statements in this interview. It also was not live, but taped at least 1 day ago. He referred to the OK City concert as "this Thursday", not today.

So if this is true, then I guess the problem with Dave was the lawyers and not his voice being shot, as we've heard so many times? I really can't believe anything Mike says.

As much as I want ANYTHING to happen, I just don't buy it. Collectively, as a group of disinfranchised fans, we do a great job at grabbing at straws. I think Mikey is in a similar boat and would be quite surprised if he had much more knowledge regarding the future of the once mighty Van Halen than your run of the mill Dokken fan. Well, that's probably a bit harsh, but I think there is some truth to it.

Who knows. At this point, as much as it pains me to say it, Van Halen (with or without Roth/Hagar/Cherone/singer #4) is irrelevant. Whetever momentum VH would have gained by bringing Roth back (either in 96 or 99) has vanished. A Hagar reunion (as logical as that is) would be met with a collective [img]graemlins/sleep.gif[/img] yawn by anyone but Redheads and Die Hard VH fans. We know fancy boy (Gary Cherone) isn't an option. A fourth singer would mean that you can catch your next Van Halen show on the next "best of 80's" tour.

Basically, I think it's over save for a boxed set of unreleased goodies. I am sure Ed will produce new music but it may not be what the fans want - and there is nothing wrong with that. If he wants to produce music, he should do it for himself, not for us.

Anyway, I think I will end my manifesto here. Just a frustrated Van Halen fan. You know it's sad when your "new" Van Halen CD is a collection of high quality bootlegs from the Gene Simmons demos (which is outstanding, by the way).

Well, hopefully the third time (?I think?) Mike speaks is the charm. VH being back together in the Fall seems plausible, but I'm not sure about the Sam AND Dave part.

I also heard this on 98.9 The Rock (KQRC) yesterday morning. Mike said two seperate times that he was "trying" to get VH back together in some form and get something going by fall. The first time he mentioned it, he said he really wanted to get both Sam and Dave back for a real VH revival. He mentioned that the lawyers were definitely the reason why Dave is not back in VH right now.

Yeah...the fans just don't want VH to be called VH w/o Sam or Dave...unfortunately. I think they should do whatever pleases themselves first. A true fan will accept that...unless they just don't like the music. As Ed has always said...if it sounds good, it is good.

VH would have reunited with Sam and Dave by now......RRHOF is about as close to a reunion as we're ever going to see.
