My first post and pride abounds!!
Anybody remember Don Dokken at a pre-Super Bowl interview on MTV(?) in 1988 talkin' about a big tour with 4 or 5 bands that was probably gonna play in SD where the SB was that year? That was a premise of the Monsters of Rock tour. Also, '88 NBA Finals was Lakers/Pistons. One game in Pontiac had Pat O'Brien interviewing all 4 members of VH in the seating area behind the basketball stands. Sammy said he didn't enjoy sitting and watching the Lakes get beaten the night before.
Just some Super Bowl/Network pre-release hype possibilities to ponder!!
Someone please say they remember this shit so I know remembering it was worth it!!

    Thanx & Can't wait for Real Music(VH 2001!)

I was at that Pistons game. Didn't know they were there until a few days later. I'm still miffed. However, I saw them in the dome that same year. MO.

I remember seeing Pat O'Brien interview VH during that Lakers/Pistons game in Detroit during the NBA Finals. It was a few weeks after OU812 was released and Pat O'Brien mentioned that the album was going to debut at #1 on the Billboard chart. I also remember seeing and hearing VH rehearsing for the Detroit concert on the local news here in L.A. Eddie was shredding on the intro to "Source of Infection" and John Salley of the Pistons was plugging his ears while being interviewed by Fred Roggin. Maybe Salley preferred the Dave era of VH.

Hats off to your memories, kids!
Those two Pontiac shows were 17&18 June '88 so I'm thinkin' that game was about the 16th or so. I was at the show on the 18th and witnessed the "poor ticket sales" we heard about for that tour. The upper deck and club weren't even open and the lower level wasn't full, but what a show!!
I remember a commotion during the Scorps' set
like when the whole crowd looks one direction, which has to be either tits or a brawl. Lo and behold, there's Ted himself, the Motor City Madman up in the press box getting the crowd rowdy but trying not to show up the Scorpions! That gave me a good feeling and made me think JAM!!
Sure enough, before VH's set I saw Zeke Clark riding a golf cart from the back of the floor to backstage holding Sammy's yellow Kramer.
To end the show, Ted joined 'em for Zep's "Rock and Roll"!!!!
That fuckin' small crowd didn't sound small all the way to the cars!!!!
Later I met a dude who went to the first show and said it was a full house and Ted also showed up that night.
    Anyone out there to corroborate??

    Swing you sinners!!!!!!!!!!!

I was there for the first show. It was packed, we had to sit basically 2 rows from the top. I don't remember 'Uncle Ted' being there. I wish he would've been there though. Oh well.
