The reunion must still be a possibility because Dave has not announced anything to the contrary.

Remember 1996 when it was official that he was out, or that Gary was in, however you want to look at it. He wrote that letter to inform people.

He would have no reason now to be silent if he were definitely out of the picture.

I think when or if the time comes that DLR and VH will not work together Dave will let us know.

I agree. I think this mini tour is a way of keeping himself in shape and in the public eye while having fun doing what he loves to do. He's sure not doing it for the cash cause he doesn't need the cash.
He's never beat around the bush in the past when it comes to speaking out either, and like Seenbad says, although it may not be soon, there's still a good chance it could happen.

I think you guys are reaching. They have'nt done anything, or talked in about a year. Eddie said that he doubts that they will ever release the 3 songs they did together with Dave. I for one see no hope of the VH/DLR thing ever coming back together, and if it ever happens it will not be any time soon.

Well... we'll probably hear the truth in case the rumor from MelodicRock.com which OLO posted is correct.

On one hand, I wish there'd be some enlightment to all of us (seeing as we're still in the dark, only speculating around)... but on the other hand, that might seriously decrease the reunion chances (if there had ever really been one).

my personal feeling is that Ed has made a descision. But if he announces it, he will take the fall. and David is smart enough to let this go on forever, he WILL make Ed be the one that ends this.

So far David has played it very smart, he can not get hurt by any annoucement at this point.

I agree that Dave waiting this thing out is the best thing he could do. Dave has not had this much pub-besides 1996- in years and like someone said the longer Dave waits the worst Eddie will look.
To bad it's come to this, my favorite band has been nothing but a soap opera for the past 5 years.

Could just be that they don't want anything to reflect on the '96 deal, including the "open letters".

I am going to remain optimistic about a reunion with Roth until Ed says he wont and that he has other plans. Neither party has denied a reunion. Until that formally happens, it is at least a possibility.

I think Dave would be stupid to write another one of those letters now - if he did he would be closing the door of possibility on himself. Who know's what Ed Al and Mike are thinking, Dave might be the guy in their minds but maybe he isn't. Nobody knows whether Dave is still a possibility to return - only Ed, Al and Mike know that. All I am saying is that Dave would be foolish to come to any conclusions about this - because he ISN'T IN CONTROL!!!!

EVH Fanatic, you are right to say that "He would have no reason now to be silent if he were definitely out of the picture." but I don't think Dave has the slightest clue of his current position in terms of rejoining Van Halen and that is why he is still silent.

Basically if he knew he was definately out then he would say siomething, sure. BUT, is there is the slightest possibility that he is NOT definately out then it would pay for Dave to stay quiet. This is the position I think Dave is in.
