From the trademark grin to trademark sin

When we used to think of VH, it was Eddie jumping around on stage, playing his guitar with that smile that could win over a serial killer. Backed with a super arsenal of songs and band members, VH used to be the epitomy of fun, partying, bikinis and heart thumpin music. What is it now? Lawsuits, stupid trademarks, silence, bitterness and most importantly, no music. No music in the future as it now appears. Why the silence? Why the bitterness towards fans? What possibly could be going on in the heads of 2 parts of the greatest band ever? I have never seen anyone try so hard to destroy a legend that will ultimately become, or already has become, a joke.
Sorry for the editorial, but I just feel very let down.

it's all about money, the more you have the more you want. that is why he is trademarking everything, so if you want to use or make something you have to pay him.

You know, Socks, I've been on a soap box in the other thread saying let's not jump to conclusions. BUT, I can say your post is pretty damn good, especially since you are addressing far more than just the recent episode. You are absolutely right. WTF ED? Can we just get some music instead of all the other shenanigans? You need to do some legal stuff, cool, but the apparent bitterness and the silence and the lack of new work...

Look I have no problem with Ed protecting his stuff, but geez man he is copyrighting and trademarking everything not nailed down to the floor as of late. Unfortunately he is not being this fervent about creating new music. I suspect his lawyers are driving almost ALL of this, maybe they should record some music then, they seem willing to work. Why is Edward being roasted for trademarking something that he invented so that he can make sure that his child and grandchildren possibly have something when he's gone?

Why does Edward have bitterness towards his fans? Read this thread and many others, but I don't think it's really the fans. It's the business in general and many artists feel the same way. At 48, after the year or so that he's had, you got to start thinking why the fuck am I doing this anymore? There's more to life than that.

Why the silence? Because there's nothing to say and he's been burned enough in the press. Because it's his life and it's none of our fucking business.

Yeah, but EVH changed lawyers very recently and I know (pretty sure at least) that he has a personal hand in at least some of what's going on.

He's not getting roasted. It's just that we the fans should be given the courtesy after years of dedication, buying every magazine, every album, seeing as many shows as possible as to wether we are wasting our time on these boards and hoping. I don't begrudge him the right to retire, stop touring ect. But all we've heard is beating around the bush, there is an album and tour coming(last years news) ect. All him or Al or management would have to say is hey, eds been sick its time to hang it up, our singer situation is in the pits so VH wont be doing anything soon.
OR hey, the bands is getting its act together and in some time the fans will be happy. All we hear is trademark this, trademark that, Dave is an ass, Sammy is an ass ect. How about something concrete. It wouldnt be hard. We've spent long hours on these boards and websites flaming each other, speculating over stuff that doesnt exist. Isnt anyone tired already? Ed & Al, please tell us what you may have in store for the fans professionally. Personal level wise..it isnt our business. Your music or retirement should be in the news...so we can rejoice in what will be or what has been. Not trademarks. Point being...VH is music...not legalities which is all we have to talk about lately. Something we shouldnt even care about...except Rols...Sorry Rol's. This whole thing sucks.
