Sammy comments about DLR?

I was looking through this book at the library called "Headbangers", about the history of Heavy Metal. Anyways, under Sammy Hagar it says "An outspoken individual, Hagar has done several memorable interviews in the Nugent vein. While in Van Halen, he participated in their feud with David Lee Roth; for earlier Hagar comments on DLR see Kerrang! #6 (11/81) and Kerrang! #35 (2/83)."

Soooooo, I guess what I'm asking is what did Sammy say back then about Dave? Anyone know?

Sam never had a kind word about Dave before and after Hagar was in VH. And vice versa. in those "5150" interviews when asked about Dave Hagar would often chime in with the Vh boys and bash Dave relentlessly. And to be honest Dave never said many bad things back about the VH boys until later in his solo career. As a matter of fact I remeber in 1986 exactly 15 years ago yesterday (the 9th) Dave was on the premiere of Joan Rivers Fox Talk Show and the next day he was playing his birthday show at the Meadowlands Arena. Anyway Joan asked him about the split and he said he and ed parted ways with a tear in their eyes. Not a bad word. I'm not saying Dave's a saint by any means. but early on after he split with VH he didn't really bad mouth them much and certainly not 1/2 as much as they did him.

I don't think Sammy and Dave hate each other, they have never even met!

Sammy has said many times he doesn't hate DLR. What Hide Your Sheep said isn't entirely true because I have seen Sammy say in an interview that he thinks that Dave is a clever songwriter, and a good showman, Sammy isn't a big fan of Dave's voice though. [img]smilies/wink.gif[/img]
