I've been listening to Right Here, Right Now and wanted to comment on 'Won't Get Fooled Again'. As a Who fan, this is my all-time favorite non-VH related tune. When I first heard VH do this 8 years ago, I was floored. The energy that the band put into this was huge. If the VH/DLR reunion ever gets going, would anybody like to hear them do this song in concert? For me, it'd be the icing on the cake.

I never was much for that song or The Who as a whole(say that 3 times real fast! ). But they did a good version of it in 5150 on video. It'd be cooler for them to just do all original songs though.

That is an awesome song, truly one of the greatest songs in rock and roll history. It really fit well with Sammy's ability to scream, and Eddie sounded so cool doing the intro picking part of it.
The scream in it after the drum roll is such an integral part of the song though, and I just can't see Dave pulling that scream off at all. Not really his style I don't think. Probably better that it's left as a memory of the Sammy era.

I was reading "the charts" section at the official site today and I was a little surprised to see that "won't get fooled again" made it to number 1 on the rock charts.
It's kind of interesting to see how all the singles did. Like, "Without You" was #1 for like 6 weeks and I was thinking what the fuck... but then I realized that was around the time that alt-rock was pretty much dead and rock music sucked.

I agree. It's a great song and fits Sammy's vocal style well."It's so damn hot... milk was a bad choice." --Ron Burgundy, Anchorman

Perhaps my FAVORITE song of the Rock Era....(that's right I said it) LOVE that tune and love the way VH did it live!
Incidentally I have a Demo version of it on a boot, sAmmy singing of course...."Sorry about the mess..."<br /><br />~Han Solo Episode IV

You can hear where Eddie got his "Little Guitars" fingerpicking influence from on that song. Musta picked it up from Townsend like he picked up tapping from Page y'know?

When did they do that? Was it ever intended to be released on a studio album?"It's so damn hot... milk was a bad choice." --Ron Burgundy, Anchorman

Are you talking about the live version they did from the 5150 studios?
Besides that, like Dan Halen, I didn't think they'd ever done an actual studio recording of the song.

Well I'm not certian--But I have a version on a CD that sounds very much like it's recorded in the studio. There's even a little banter in there between Ed and Sam.

BC, that's probably from that taping they did from the 5150 studios when they did Won't Get Fooled Again and Dreams.

I heard a rumour that the version on Right Here Right Now IS a studio version, just with crowd noise overdubbed onto it...
It'll all end in beers...
