Van Halen "Behind The Music"

With VH1 now airing new interview segments of Dave and Sammy with Mike, could a "Behind the Music" be in the making?

If I was a betting man, I'd put some money on it.

I've heard that the Brothers have always said no to it, but VH1 really doesn't need their permission. And while the brothers involvement would be nice, there are now enough people out there to tell the story without them.

People like DLR, Sammy, Gary, ex-wives, former managers, tour managers, and ex-friends. There is enough archive footage of interviews with Eddie and Al to round out the show.

Just something to think about as more footage shows up on VH1.

I would think they WOULD need the brother's involvement. I'm sure if something was broadcast and Ed & Alex didn't agree the message, a lawsuit would quickly follow.

After all, how can you do a "Van Halen: Behind The Music" and not have the Van Halen brothers actively involved?

Besides, the things I want to know about wouldn't be answered via archived footaged. I would want Ed & Alex to discuss in detail the separation from Dave, Sam and Gary. Also, I'd like to find out what effect this self-imposed hiatus has had on the band. Next, I'd want to know who is going to be their new lead singer. And finally, I'd want to know if there is a future for Van Halen or if the band is over once-and-for-all. None of these questions can be answered with any depth without new interviews with Ed and Al.

Like I said before, if the brothers thought for just one minute that the material/message being sent by a Behind the Music special was inaccurate in anyway, you can bet you last dollar they'd slap VH1 with a lawsuit so fast, it would make your head spin. That is exactly why one cannot be done with Ed & Al's participation.

It really makes me wonder too. I remember reading earlier Eddie interviews when he would make comments like, "Ask me anything. My life is an open book." Now, he's done a total 180 and wouldn't divulge information if it was to save his own life. I wonder what happened to this man to make him change sooooooooooooo much? Things that make ya go hmmmmmm.

Yes, exactly what he said. If VH1 wants to do a 'Behind the Music', then get ALL parties involved and do it right.

I'd like to see it, but I don't care what the brothers say about the splits with the singers. All they would do is lie anyway.

I'd just like to see a story done on how they made all the great VH music over the years, with clips from all involved.

I am not sure about BTM but I know they can make a movie without thier permission, they did it with Sonny and Cher. Cher said "no way" and they did it anyway.

With the Van Halen soap opera of recent years the BTM would have to be a miniseries don't you think?

Why don't they just do one on David Lee Roth or Sammy Hagar? Something is better than nothing

Truth be told, I'm not interested in an BTM on VH. I know the stories.

What's the point until something definitive happens? "In 1999, Gary Cherone split from the band without the animosity of the other two breakups. Rumors of David Lee Roth's return swirled around the band for a short time. Eddie battled cancer and his wife left him. Alex Van Halen disappeared. Michael Anthony's repeated reunion talk came to nothing, and enraged fans. Dave and Sammy Hagar toured together, with Dave fronting a tribute band and Sammy selling tequila." Oh yeah, what an ending.

no offense meant here...but there probably won't be a behind the music on vh-1 on van halen until someone from the band dies. unfortunately it happens way too often. someone dies and then the public all of a sudden wants to remember them and immortalize them. it happens all the time in music and sports

i would like to see one with all parties involved though
