I think it's a little strange that Sammy isn't putting much effort into promoting his new album.

1)He barely mentioned it on Howard Stern.
2)He didn't play any of the new songs on the tour.
3)His website makes litle mention of it.
4)He doesn't appear to have any big plans in the coming weeks to promote it (Leno or Dave, last year's apprearance on CBS' NFL football show, etc).

Historically, Sammy has always put a lot of effort into promoting his new releases. That doesn't appear to be the case this time.

It makes me think that either:
a) he thinks the album sucks and is not worth promoting (which is highly unlikely), or
b) that he is definitely planning on reuniting with Van Halen in the near future and is saving his time/energy for that......

Any thoughts?

It is #2. As much as I like Dave, I just see Eddie putting up with Sammy before putting up with Dave.

Well, I heard something on the radio about his new album Not for Sale being available in October on the way back from lunch.....and I got an e-mail from hagar.net this week talking about it, so I wouldn't say he isn't doing "anything" for the album. Just for what it is worth.

I thought that I was the only one who noticed the lack of promotion, glad you mentioned it!
I'm also thinking that there's something going on that includes VH. Maybe Ed will go to Cabo after all? Who knows?

But it's not Sammy-style to not promote his new CD, that's for sure!

Only time will tell........

I hate to say it, but i think this is all wishful thinking. Sam is a wealthy man and is at an age (56) where most people start thinking of leaving the career lifestyle in the past.

Perhaps Sam isn't promoting the album because he simply does not want to. Maybe he just loves the "studio time" and all the effort it takes to create an album....but just doesn't want to bother with the promotion of the album. It wouldn't surprise me if this were the case...

He's probably taking some time off after the Sam/Dave summer tour. I'll bet most anybody would need some time off after that madness.

He's talked about it in a few areas, but it's kinda hard to promote a "new" album when it hasn't even been released yet.

The new songs will make their live debut in October. After that, I'm sure he'll embark on tour. We'll find out when he plays Cabo next month.
"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

"This is a lttle prayer dedicated to the separation of church and state. I guess if they are going to force those kids to pray in schools they might as well have a nice prayer like this: Our Father who art in heaven, and to the republic for which it stands, thy kingdom come, one nation indivisible as in heaven, give us this day as we forgive those who so proudly we hail. Crown thy good into temptation but deliver us from the twilight's last gleaming. Amen and Awomen. ."

"I think it's the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately."

You kids must not be paying much attention...

3)His website makes litle mention of it.
The intro to Sammy's website has a sound clip of one of the new songs with a decent flash deal with the album cover shots, release date, etc...

His main page has a scrolling add to pre-purchase it and the main top item is a link to all the details of the album.

Generally it's the label that does the bulk of the promotional work. I'm not sure if even the 1st single has been released but that's usually the beginning of the promotions. I'll bet you'll hear more about as we get closer to the 8th of Oct.
Woke up this mornin, got Blue Moon in your eyes...

Maybe he has a shitty company doing the promoting and marketing.
Actually I think most of us are Dave, Sam, and Mike fans. There's just a small group of people who have strange allegiances and like to get into petty pissing contests that I can't believe everyone on this site isn't bored of. - Brett

. . . because there is a much greater rate of return on selling T-shirts & tequila than there is on CD's???

I don't know, but maybe this album is a contractual deliverable that is due and a great excuse to go back out on tour and promote Cabo Wabo Enteprises and sell some more tour T-shirts.

I was thinking the same thing. He's barely doing any promotions at all. I was surprized when I heard it was coming out! He was talking about Planet Us, Touring with Dave, his Tequila, then BAM! He's releasing a new studio cd? I didn't see that coming.

Usually he's talking about it, calling radio stations, etc.

It is a little weird?
"Keep honking buddy. I'm reloading..." -The Mard

"......HEY!.............alright............." -BIG FOOT

" I know what you're thinking: "Do I want to watch Mard? We know that horses were very strong and could actually stop airplanes from flying away. The ones made out of stone called "statues" -- occasionally came to life and rode off is a colonial cliche. How many more times do we need to hear about how the oppressive Raj's wore villainous black capes, crafted cunning plastic masks to impersonate people, and drained all the blood from their slaves so they could keep the fluid in bottles in their dungeons? I mean, YAWN!

But if you're willing to sit through this dry sort of historical drama one more time -- or even just this dry historical review -- you will not be disappointed. In fact, some of you might just learn something they didn't teach you in school!-

I don't know about his record deal, but could he have owed them 1 more album much he did with geffen when he joined VH?

He wasn't really out there promoting "Never said Goodbye" that much. Even thought he did a couple videos for it. and one of them included Eddie, Alex and Mike.
I think that once Cabo is done with, then maybe you will see him promote it in conjunction with VH news.
