It's annoying because they're usually sharing someone else's opinion over having one.

Just left FB 2 days ago, woohoo! I needed an excuse and finally got one that involved a freedom of speech issue. Feels oddly good to be rid of it.

I would like to leave but unfortunately it's how the family keeps in touch. It's simply too convenient. Plus, I can see what's going with them. I've never been the pick up the phone and call type of guy. I guess Ed and I are very similar in that regard

Just trying to spend less time on it.

I have this cousin who's got to be the most gullible person on Earth.

Shares every one of those "we're giving away 20 motorhomes...like and share our page" to win shit. Etc.

Or the prosperity charlatan preachers who are giving away 25,000 in cash if you just like and share their page. Her own kids have chastised her for this stuff as being fake.

I've never met one person who has liked, shared, and actually won something on FB.

I have a customer who had a friend of hers who she's known for 40+ years steal one of her cars. She (the car thief) and a friend of hers then decieded to livestream their adventure on Facebook. Yes, they got caught.

Default FB generation loss of manual dexterity

Surgery students 'losing dexterity to stitch patients'

A professor of surgery says students have spent so much time in front of screens and so little time using their hands that they have lost the dexterity for stitching or sewing up patients.

Roger Kneebone, professor of surgical education at Imperial College, London, says young people have so little experience of craft skills that they struggle with anything practical.

"It is important and an increasingly urgent issue," says Prof Kneebone, who warns medical students might have high academic grades but cannot cut or sew.

"It is a concern of mine and my scientific colleagues that whereas in the past you could make the assumption that students would leave school able to do certain practical things - cutting things out, making things - that is no longer the case," says Prof Kneebone.

The professor, who teaches surgery to medical students, says young people need to have a more rounded education, including creative and artistic subjects, where they learn to use their hands.

Prof Kneebone says he has seen a decline in the manual dexterity of students over the past decade - which he says is a problem for surgeons, who need craftsmanship as well as academic knowledge.

Couple who plunged to their deaths at Yosemite National Park was taking selfie

A “travel-obsessed” Indian couple was taking a selfie when they plunged to their deaths at a popular overlook in Yosemite National Park last week, a relative said — just months after the duo wrote about having boundaries while taking travel photos.

Vishnu Viswanath, 29, and Meenakshi Moorthy, 30, died after they fell about 800 feet from Taft Point, a popular viewpoint in the California park that doesn’t have a railing to protect visitors from the ledge. Park rangers recovered their bodies last Thursday after people reported seeing an unattended camera on a tripod.

In a March 28 Instagram post, Moorthy questioned, “Is our life just worth one photo?”

“Yeah sure it can be limitless but guys, we reaaaallly need to have boundaries(this is handy as life lessons too but we will revisit that later),” Moorthy wrote along with a photo of herself at the Grand Canyon. “A lot of us including yours truly is a fan of daredevilry attempts of standing at the edge of cliffs and skyscrapers, but did you know that wind gusts can be FATAL???”

“When we squirm at another selfie attempt gone south from a skyscraper, let’s remember to save that in our core memory and not the memory dump,” she added.

All of the sudden, starting this morning I can see again all of the people and pages on facebook that I unfollowed. Not unfriended, just unfollwed... so you can still be friends but not have to read all the bullshit (usually political) that they post.

Now it looks like the only way to block them is to totally unfriend them.

Might be time to start weening off this shit and forget it ever existed.
