Sounds good, nice to hear an understated version of the anthem. Too many singers sing it as if they're auditioning for broadway. I prefer it low key like this. Nice job Gary.

Good Job, Gary. Last night I heard someone say he sucked, but I have to say he started off sounding a bit nervous and finished strong. Glad to hear it.

He treated the song with respect, and did not "oversing" it. Sure he sounded a bit nervous, but I can understand that...I think he just wanted to do it right, because of the times.

I liked it. Much better than many other people have done it.
Thanks, Jerel!

I thought he sounded pretty good, and NOT screaming like Ed forced him to do. Had trouble reaching a few notes, but all in all, good job, certainly better than some have done.

In my opinion, his voice was fine, though he missed some notes for sure. But that has nothing to do with being either nice or loyal.
Personally, I think it's disrespectful when those people sing the anthem and they do so many vocal gymnastics it becomes ridiculous. It's like they are putting themselves ahead of the pride of the anthem, and I don't like that.

Seen - give the guy a break man. Imagine Dave singing the national, there'd be quite a "few" bad notes. If that fat pig Roseanne can mock the national anthem by singing it at a Padre game without getting tomatoes thrown at her, then Gary Cherone sure can get away with hitting some wrong notes doing it.

Oh for crying out loud. You guys know I'm not serious about the tomato! Geeeez. I am serious about thinking it REALLY sucked though!
Had Roth sung it, I'm sure I would say the same thing, only I'd be embarrassed for him if he even tried. You mean to tell me that out of all the anthems you have heard, you would actually call that GOOD????!!.....I think you should go to more ball games
Whitney Houston=good. Rosanne= like the WORST. Gary= not good.
I love the national anthem as much as the next guy, believe me. My fourth great grandfather was sitting next to Francis Key when he wrote the thing (Seenbad family claim to fame) on a ship. I have heard good, and I have heard bad. Objectively speaking outside of him being a vh frontman and all that (if thats what you would like to call it), I think it was pretty horrible. Its not the end of the world, he just sucked imo. sheepa latta peepah dabba looka foh a moopy

Not surprising from a guy who'd publicly distrespect the anthem, and who's linage stems from a Red Coat...

Just got the set. Aesthetically, it's pretty disappointing. It didn't help that on the same day I received the Candlebox box set, which was done so, so much better and feels much more substantial...
