you are the equivalent of a cancer in the body of music -- a radio station on steroids.

lumping Van Halen in with one-hit fads that you used to support VEHEMENTLY is a testament to your lack of artistic integrity.

that stunt was a slap in the face to Van Halen. you knew it, and that's why you did it.

VH fans know MTV caters to 14 year olds. we don't expect to see VH on your channel. hell, it's not as if you ever really supported them in the past. remember how you banned the video for "pretty woman?"

In addition to the above comments - I can't believe you would play a clip of an artists song (In this case, VH's "Mean Street") as a presenter (DeNiro) walks on to the stage, only to slam that band some 20 minutes later.
Totally tasteless - and it just goes to show you use these artists for your own gain when it's convenient.

For that matter, are we ever going to see MTV give a rats ass about videos ever again? I couldn't give a crap about the 23 and three quarter hours out of your daily programming. When did playing videos become such a low (read:non-existent) priority for a channel that was founded on just that? Our generation MADE you what you are today, and you have completely alienated us. If you insist on continuing to clog your programming time with repeated episodes of drivel like The Real World and Road Rules and the like, please let your "founding fans/supporters" know immediately so that we can cancel you from our cable subscriptions.

We gave you everything. Thanks for nothing.

Just a reminder: after 12 albums, 26 years, and over 80 million albums sold worldwide, Van Halen is a rock legend to a majority of music lovers everywhere. A very low and stupid thing to do, MTV. Van Halen was never a "one hit wonder" or the "flavour of the month" like those other has beens you threw up on the screen. Frankly, I don't understand why you chose to include VH and to even slam them that way. They (especially David Lee Roth) pioneered the 'video' medium alongside Micheal Jackson and Madonna. You could have almost threw in Micheal Jackson in the mix. When was the last time he had a hit album?

In the era where one can easily download a video of THEIR choice off the net, doing what you did MTV on that night ain't gonna help your situation any more. Viewership will suffer.

There are millions of VH fans that are upset about this, not to mention a whole lot of other people who are into hard rock music. Face it, MTV, that was a very low thing to do.

I hope MTV becomes a memory in a few years.

I found myself watching the MTV music awards last night (wast of time, all it does is piss me off every year) and I was shocked when they trashed the Mighty Van Halen, my mouth fell wide open, and after I stared at the tv for a few minutes. I got mad, real mad. I could'nt beleive they put down one of the Greatest Rock Bands that ever lived. and also put them in a class with MC Hammer, Vanila Ice, and all the other fly by night arist. so this morning MTV got a nice long letter from me. I hope we all let them know how we feel!!!!

MTV is a joke and has forgotten it's past. It’s success now rests on the laurels of its past. It will be gone and buried within the next five years unless it returns to it original format of true music performing artists. It is now more about the ideas of a few producers and not the music and the musicians’ creativity. It is sad when I see what is being represented as the music of today, no real true musicians. MTV has dictated and controlled what music is today that is lack of true integrity and musicianship. To slam a band like VH, which was there with MTV from jumpstreet, is like a country that slams the forefathers that gave them freedom and the prosperity. MTV is trying to kill rock music; the young minds are being controlled by a monster that feeds them trash. True music will survive and a new media will replace it unless it changes back to its core roots. MTV is joke, it has turned from substance to a fad and fads wears thin and fade away.... Rock is a revolt and it’s time to break down the MTV wall! SPEAK THE WORD!

The problem is here that VH is truly one of the great bands to ever make music. You say the two words Van Halen and dismiss them as talentless nothings. In the mean time you love this little girl who really has no talent can't write anything, has people coaching her voice, can't play an instrument and the true reason you love her is she makes cash because she looks good on the TV. And these punk rappers who have just as much talent as those little girls but they just think they are kings and can say anything so you sell these guys to the little overagressive little pukes that I see on the sidewalk everyday.(and by the way you guys promote ebonics way too much tell those rappers to get some speach and english classes at the closest community college) So money is money and that is your business and music is music and you know nothing about that as we can see by everything on your MTV. Ok the word Van Halen is a word that mean GREAT Rock and Roll. Not ok Rock and Roll, GREAT. They are not one hit wonders, they are musicians. And true musicians write their own music and their own lyrics. When VH steps on the stage at any venue they are playing the music. Tell those band that you play to pick up a guitar and play some of Edwards riffs. They can't because Ed wrote them and plays them only like Ed can. It makes me rather mad that anyone can put VH in any category but the greatest American band. I will tell you something when I have children they will not watch MTV if the format continues as it is now. You promote talentless people who know little or nothing about great music.BIG FAT MONEY $$$$
