Click here to vote for Dave, I don't really understand the category, but I guess it's supposed to tie in with Thanksgiving. http://www.vh1.com/insidevh1/shows/rockshow/

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Nobody hates Lars more than me and if you vote for that greedy little troll, and he wins, it means Metallica video!!! YUCK!!!!! I want my DLR!!!!!!!!! Who gives a fuck about the category, if the Diamond one wins, it means a VH video or (gasp) a DLR video.

Oh man, I've written my anti-Metallica rant enough, so here's the short version: Their music's mediocre and their greedy stance on Napster should be enough to anger any music fan.

Ummm maybe because they are sold out business men instead of musicians that write great songs. When they didn't worry about money so much, they had more time to worry about writing good songs. Their music just ain't what it used to be. Just my take.

Not sure this is the place for this, but I think whoever gave Metallica the advice to fight Napster should be fired. I understand their point, but I still think it's career suicide for them.

I don't begrudge Metallica the right to evolve. Basically, James Hetfield is the songwriter there, and you can't expect him to be 25 and pissed off forever. Having said that, to me Metallica have passed that invisible line where you become more of a caricature of what you once were, which is inevitable with age and experience.

For every "old school" Metallica fan there are 10 "new" Metallica fans that like the direction of the band.

How can a person who likes Van Halen, not like "Enter Sandman" or "Hero of the Day". Even if these tunes are a departure for the band, their still solid rock tunes, much like "Ain't Talkin'" or "Feel Your Love Tonight." Now they're not the "machine gun like attack" that was prevalant on earlier stuff, but............catchy rock tunes, kinda like VH.

Is it a bad thing to protect musician's rights ?? It sounds like a bunch of crybabies are upset because they want something for nothing and are mad at Metallica for saying "No"...I got no problem paying for music by any artist...Napster is cool and all but we all know it is just an opportunity for us to pirate stuff for free...lots of musicians are losing money everyday because of it...Metallica is acting in the best interest of all musicians...if a particular artist wants their work traded on the internet for free...so be it...put your music on Napster and watch it roll...but some musician's do not want their work traded for free...and it is their right to control their art. Metallica is just the name attached to this issue in the press...there are many bands that feel this way...many are unsigned acts who want to protect and control their music...would they be able to do anything about it on their income...obviously not...Metallica are not trying to act greedy and protect only themselves...they are acting to protect the guy sitting on the edge of his bed everynight writing songs, the band at the local bar who just cut a self-financed CD, etc...who would listen to them if they didn't want their work on Napster and tried to fight it...Metallica speaks for us musicians that could not afford a team of lawyers to help us...I thank Metallica. Now as for the music...every musician grows up and evolves...and so does their music...you can't act like an angry, agressive, out of control hormone driven, blue-balled teenager in your 30's and have anyone take you seriously...thank you and goodnight.

Oh Christ! Cue the violin! I'm a musician myself and I've talked to many other up and coming musicians and guess what? They all use MP3 to get their name out!!!!! It helps! I'd just be happy my shit's getting out there. Don't give me that "Metallica's protecting the little man" rap. Their protecting their own greedy asses!Lars is concerned with putting a new jacuzzi in his house, nothing else. For the record, I still buy CDs like their going out of style. Napster is just a cool, new way to trade and share music.

Exactly Bro...like I said...if you want your stuff out there then more power to you...put it out there...you're exercising your right to do so...but what about the artist who doesn't want it out there ?? Doesn't he or she deserve the right to make that choice ??

Chonologically speaking, when did Metallica get involved with fighting Napster? I was of the understanding that the leaking of I Disappear was the impetus for their involvement, but I'm not sure of that.

Like I said, I understand where Metallica is coming from, but I think they are fighting for themselves, and claiming they're trying to help the little guy is just trying to save face. Which is fine, I would expect that Metallica would ultimately be most interested in their own interests, not any other bands' interests.

The claim of fighting for the little guy reminds me of the people who want marijuana legalized and claim it's because you can make great hats out of hemp. Sorry, but I'm not buying that argument.
