    Default Lethal Weapon 5

Yeah, thatís a good point BC. Yes the focus of the first movie is that Mel Gibson is suicidal and by the end he has overcome that demon and feels better about his life. Absolutely that is the main focus of the movie. The drug stuff is completely secondary.

The other ones are certainly more just typical buddy-cop movies, but people liked their relationship so much that they wanted to see those characters again. But yeah, the story had been completed in the first movie. For sure. You can tell it was a standalone movie absolutely.

The original is a very good movie. Thereís a reason why they made so many more of them.

Did Mel Gibson make the antisemitic remarks before or after he made Passion Of The Christ?

I think he mightíve given a half-assed apology. Heís never been very forthcoming about any of it. I think he probably hoped it would just go away. But I think he did give some sort of apology. ďI was drunk, blah blah.Ē

Didn't he have more than one anti-Jew rant or am I conflating him with Alec Baldwin?

I think he had more than one, which kind of makes one think that is how he truly feels.

Yeah, Iím pretty confident thatís definitely how he feels. His father was a piece of shit antisemite too. I guess the apple doesnít fall far from the tree.

Itís a shame because I always liked him as an actor. And I certainly loved all the LW movies.

And Danny Glover isnít any better. Heís been anti-Israel for a long time.

This is why I dont read about these actors with their real world antics, I stick to the characters they play to entertain me for a few hours in front of the TV.

Unfortunately, what Mel Gibson did was like front page news, you couldnít avoid it. It was a big deal here when he went nuts.

Thatís why all of us remember it.

And normally, when celebrities act like shitheads, I can deal with that. I donít necessarily need to like them to appreciate their art. Not like EVH was always the nicest person in the world. But when youíre Jewish, and an actor you like says terrible things about you, itís hard to just ignore it. Just the way it is.

This is a series that got progressively worse with each installment. First one is a classic for me. Great action sequences.

No need for a 5th one. Hell, there was no need for a 4th one either.

Having said that, I'll still probably check it out...if it's on one of the streamers I have so it feels like it's free. lol

The second movie is pretty much as good as the first one. Itís pretty close. Theyíre both really good.

The third one is good enough.

The fourth one isnít very good and they used a shitty Van Halen song, but itís watchable.

I donít really see the need for another one, but like you said, Iíll just catch it on streaming.

I liked the fourth one with Jet Li. When Danny Glover shoots and kills his brother, 'well now he's really pissed off' lol

Fun fact: The script, Simon Says, originally a Brandon Lee vehicle, was at one point rewritten to be a Lethal Weapon sequel before ultimately being rewritten into Die Hard with a Vengeance.
