I was on the Cape for the weekend and thats what a dj said on Pixy 103 (his name is Brad Hynes) right after he played Jump.

It got my nerve up so fucking much that I just about punched the car stereo.

Eddie STILL matters to rock & roll, we will all see just how much in the coming months.

Being that he just got done playing a Van Halen song I wouldn't have gotten too heated over it. If he just played Limp Bizkit's "Rollin" (another song about beating someone up by Fred Durst) and made that comment about Ed then maybe I would have been pissed.

Eddie will always matter in rock music. I'm sure the DJ was just being nostalgic.

Dude! Do not take it personally! Life is to fucking short! There are other things to worry about that have far more reaching consequences...

Anyone who knows the history of Rock n roll knows how important Eddie Van Halen was when he arrived and how many musicians/fans he has influenced over the years.

This guy probably listens to Limp Dick And Korn where all they can play is three chords.

We all know who the man is and always will be. There will neveer be another Eddie Van Halen!

I probably would have been pissed too except that the DJ is only stating his opinion. You may not like it (I sure don't) but it's what he thinks.

Eddie Van Halen will always be the greatest guitar player of all time in my mind.

If you want to know how Eddie "matters" here in Italy, well, there was the "Greatest guitar player of the century" poll on a guitar magazine and Eddie scored the 2nd place after Jimi.
The competition was open to all kind of music, so he was before Eric, Jimmy Page, Al di Meola, Vai and so on.
    Lots of people voted.

On another magazine, I read a short biography, where they kinda said:" Sir EVH, well known worldwide as a great innovator in technique and axpression of six-string" and "unique musician, whose masterships have become a myth for everybody, including us!".
But all the article was nothing else but the celebration of a myth, that nobody will ever diminish.

Industy, and influence-wise, no artist is going to remain relevant for an extended period of time.

As long as they can remain relevant to us, the listeners, that's all that matters.
