Van Halen is losing fans.

Man, I hate to say it.. but it seems like my friends aren't that excited about VH anymore.

One guy has been a fan since 5150.. all the way to 3. Since Gary left, he hardly mentions them.. and even when I brought them up yesterday, he said.. "are they still around?"

What can you say to that?!? "Yeah, but.. well, I don't know for SURE, but everything points to them coming out with a new record with DLR."

His response: "Still planning on doin' the nostalgia trip, eh?.. it's not going to be the same. I think they're desperate for money."

And the rest of the guys at the table agreed. One said, "if and when the CD comes out, I'm gonna wait to hear THE REVIEWS."

My friends are actually kind of annoying about it. I mean most of them like VH, are FAR from diehards. Everyday they ask me, "Any new VH news?" with like a snicker. Screw 'em, let them all talk!

Even my wife (who is a Van Halen fan) will give me a sarcastic remark once in a while. Basically, I only talk about Van Halen with one die-hard fan. Some of my friends will ask but only because of the rumors that they hear on the radio.

I can understand it if someone says they just don't get into Van Halen. What I don't understand is these people that just STOP being a fan of VH. [img]smilies/confused.gif[/img] How does that happen? You haven't heard anything from the band for a while, and all of a sudden "Fair Warning" doesn't sound good anymore? I don't get it.

I don't think that people stop being fans, I think that they just lose a little interest, or in some cases, a lot of interest. It also depends on your particular level of fandom. I consider myself to be a big Ozzy fan, but I could care less about Ozzfest and his 47th reunion with Black Sabbath (Ozzy, put out an album with Zakk Wylde and kick ass solo again).

I'd say that the vast majority of us are die hards. But even after that, some are more die hard then others. And I agree that when Van Halen actually does put out a product, a lot of people that are "ho-hum" VH fans will want to jump back on the bandwagon again.

I've been a fan since 1985. I'm not what you would call "Fairweather" regarding the subject of Van Halen.

I was jamming with a potential new band on the weekend. Of course we ended up tearing through more than a few Van Halen tunes, and basically what was said was if there is a new CD, and it is a new singer they wouldn't buy it. Is either Dave, Sammy, or nothing. My wife never liked Van Halen anyway, but said I could go to a future concert as long as the ticket wasn't the price of say a U2 ticket, which I wouldn't pay anyway. Last summer I paid I think $45 to see Creed, The Tea Party and numerous other bands, so anything more than that is too high, even for Van Halen. Creed is the hottest band on the planet right now, so a Van Halen ticket is surely to be in the same range, if not cheaper, most likely will be a cover charge if it is a 4th singer.

Anyway, none of my friends mention Van Halen at all, Guns n' Roses comes up more than Van Halen in the 'where are they now' conversations. Van Halen just became too pop orientatited with Sammy, and if Dave comes back, so what, as in a previous post is just a money grabbing scheme, they hate each other what other reason could there be to do it? Is Dave gonna be the next soul mate? I doubt it.

I have said it before and I'll say it again. There is no offical news, any new CD with DLR or anyone else is speculation and wishful thinking. They probably got a real shit kicking where their ego's are concerned with the III CD and tour and are still licking their wounds. After the 96 fiasco I don't even think DLR could save them, I say that because everyone will know there is only one motivation behind it. MONEY!null

my dad asked me the other day "when are you gonna get a haircut" and i said 'when VH returns" without missing a beat he said "never" and he only knows what i tell him. if there is no official statment by the end of the year, i will become a causal fan meaning if a record comes fine if it don't fine.
