As we all hope, there will be a reunion. Hopefully soon, because time is running out. Now I recently saw Phish on New Years. It was a last minute thing, but my buddies friend bailed and I was doing nothing. So I checked out this scene. Now Phish had been on "hiatus" for two years and MSG was insane that night. The energy was amazing. I just sat there and only imaged what the first show of a reunion with either Dave or Sammy would be like. I mean that first show would be a HUGE event. After that Phish show, it made me think more about what seeing VH after so many years would be like for us die hards.

It would be surreal. I'd take an extended vacation to catch every show possible.

Unless it where Sammy, and then I'd be on Tommy Lee's sight tring to convice him that Vince Neil is still cool. I'm thinking Eddie is kinda like Tommy ( still knows he's cool, just wonders about his washed up past roommates)At least Dave is still Dave! Sammy however, is the same guy ( only fatter and less cool) that replaced our hero. I'll be damned if I'll sit back and watch that again!

Dave is still Dave? You're kidding, right? He has not changed his schtick one bit and now it is as tired and played out as he is. Sadly, he has become a parody of himself IMO.

It's weird to me about Dave. I've read his book, seen him many times in concert over the years, and have bought all the music. He seems like he's smart, savvy, and would be into "growth" from all the reading / traveling he does. It would seem to me, at this piont in his life / career that he would see what the Van Halens' are looking for out of him.....and also realize that the fans need something new or different from him to keep the interest up. I think many people would freak to see Dave being straight-forward and having an "I just want to rock, and blow your ass away like we used to" attitude, and when it was "SHOWTIME", get up there and be the frontman we all know he is.

'til then, I'm hopeful, but not sure we'll ever see the reunion happen.

But, you know what "really" burns my ass ??????

I, like the rest of us would love to see some type of reunion, or anything new for that matter! I am pushing for Sammy more than Dave. Seeing Dave last summer was great, but it was nothing more than a rehash of what he was doing back in the day, only this time the man had a hard time keeping the notes! This coupled with the bad taste I still have in my mouth from the No Holds Bar-B-Q pushes me to Sambo!

I have said it before, and will say it again, Sam is still writing great NEW music and staying true to who he is. I would love to see what kind of new treats we would get from those songwriting sessions! As for Dave, when was the last time you heard something New that was not a techno cover or a bad version of Baker Steet? He has nothing to offer in the way of songwriting. Plus did it not take the man over two weeks to do the tracks for the Best Of? At that rate, we should see an album in 2006.

Neither Dave or Sammy has done anything to prove that they can write a Van Halen song. With the exception of Sam's Little Lies, everything else sounds like lazy songwriting if you ask me. Mas Tequila?

And Dave's fetish with midgets is something he should keep locked in his basement.

HOWEVER, every rock star who hangs around long enough and doesn't play the "elder statesmen" role like Elton John, Eric Clapton, and Paul McCartney are accused of being a washed up parody of themselves. Although, you do have to hand it to Mick for bagging the babes! Having seen Dave and Sammy on their last tour, I thought each did a fantastic job, but I don't care for Sammy as a solo artist and he looked ridiculous in his PJs doing the Jimmy Buffet schtick. At least Dave was Dave and wasn't ripping off someone else's persona. He put on a great show, the audience was into it, and he looked and sounded awesome. Now if he put out some decent new music, he could prove the naysayers wrong.

Look at it this way, Scott Sapp walks around in his leather jeans all the time, Metallica cut their hair because it was the cool thing to do, and Eminem and Keith Richards walk around shooting their mouths off, pissing everyone off. What is so different about Dave? To me, it looks like he fits right in and in fact, wrote the book on outlandish rock star behavior. Those gold lamay pants that fit his perfectly didn't look any odder than Edward's homeless outfit at NAMM.

Finally, between Dave's lawsuit with his former bandmates and Sammy's new "deal," I don't think you're going to see either of them back in the VH lineup any time too soon.
Could this be magic?

Shit Tommy hasn't been cool since Feelgood neither has Nikki. Vince was cool during his Exposed period but now he's just a bloated, fat ass alkie. Corabi was cool before Motley, during and he is still cool to this day unlike his former bosses. I don't care if Vince doesn't sing everyword just like I don't that Dave doesn't but Vince needs to put down the bottle and go get some friggin excercise. Dave to his credit did lose his gut which wasn't near as bad as Vince.
Motley pretty much suck and have for a long fucking time. They are losers

One more thing about Dave I think his disco get ups last summer is just part of who he is and the era he came of age and while it was great hearing all the old VH stuff I thought he coulda played some solo stuff too especially off DLR which he did play one tune on the Bad Co tour. But he has great solo songs like Damn Good, Lil Ain't Enough, Tell The Truth, Goin Crazy, Slam Dunk, Cheatin Heart Cafe, That's Life, Lose The Dress etc that would have been cool to hear. That's a tough job trying to pick and then learn all those tunes from his VH and solo career I just thought it was a bit lop sided. But I know most people probably would rather hear Dave sing On Fire then Damn Good.

Sammy is from the bay area and I think that's where that beach bum, weed smoking, Buffet drinking thing comes in. I thought wearing a towl was a little silly but I also think Dave's JD routine was silly. Dropping both would be a big improvement in their sets

What has happened over the years is that Dave has become a weirdo. In the beginning, his personality and "schtick", as we've been calling it, was new and exciting. Twenty five years later, it's weird.
