I am surprised the band are giving all the fans this silent treatment after the last couple of years they have to know the frustration we all feel.
I recall a statement Edward said a number of years ago regarding when he was young and saw Richie Blackmore and John Bonham in a bar somewhere in LA, went up to them to say hi and shake their hand and they looked at him and told him to fuck off. Now Edward mentioned how angry he felt, about getting his own back once he made it. (He didn't by the way). Surely he must realise that he is giving us the same kind of response. How are we to feel?
I hope for his sake it is not indifference when a announcement is finally made, because just maybe, some will not give a damn anymore.
The old adage - 'You reap what you sow" may just
come and haunt him.

Blackmore is reknown for his ability to see
into the future. I think he simply had
visions of post-Dave Van Halen. You can
understand his subsequent reactions.

Welcome back, Van HALEN!!!!
...It's the BAND and Dave is really the cat that can front VH. He sang his ASS off and was really cool. No cheese here guys, this is filet Mignon! - Steve Lukather's comment after witnessing a Van HALEN 2007 rehearsal

Has Ed been a dick to anyone in public? The only references we have to Ed being a dick are what two former lead singers, who both have issues of their own, say. Not saying they aren't right, just saying consider the source. Gary and Mitch Malloy both said Ed is a great guy, like a brother, etc. Everybody talks about Ed's ego, but only in reference to two of the biggest egos in the business, Sammy and Dave. Maybe he just won't let their egos run the show? Like I said, I don't know. Was VH 3 an ego trip? Don't know, maybe it was just a bad combination of music, singer and producer. Just because Ed doesn't want someone running him, doesn't mean he wants to run everything. Maybe he's looking for a COLLABORATION of equals, not egos.
Regarding the silence, is it possible that is the "official" posture, but when you get the guys in person they don't adhere to it? Like Ed with the golf mag, and Mike at the car show, maybe they are nice guys and will talk, but only when you catch them outside their "official" posture. When confirming through Brad, they are in their "official" mode, which is silence. Hell, maybe that's why Ed didn't go to NAMM, he didn't want to be rude, but didn't want to discuss it either. Easy to make Mikey's statements go away, not so easy with Ed's.
End result: Who knows?

Only a guy who helped him get rich (Dave), another guy who helped him stay rich (Sammy), and the millions of us who helped him build 5150 studios and the rest of Howdy Doody Mountain.
The only references we have to Ed being a dick are what two former lead singers, who both have issues of their own, say. Not saying they aren't right, just saying consider the source. Gary and Mitch Malloy both said Ed is a great guy, like a brother, etc.
But what Gary DID say in his February 98 interview proved that Ed was a liar and was recording with Dave, Cherone, and presumably Malloy all at the same time, and before Sammy was even fired! If that doesn't prove he's a FUCKING DICK I don't know what does.
Everybody talks about Ed's ego, but only in reference to two of the biggest egos in the business, Sammy and Dave. Maybe he just won't let their egos run the show? Like I said, I don't know.
Nobody ever said that either Dave or Sammy were Boy Scouts. But the evidence has shown that 1996 and everything since has been the fault of Ray Danniels, Edward Van Halen or both. Dave and Sammy WERE the ones running the shows, because Eddie was not capable of doing so.
Was VH 3 an ego trip? Don't know, maybe it was just a bad combination of music, singer and producer.
That's putting it charitably.
Just because Ed doesn't want someone running him, doesn't mean he wants to run everything. Maybe he's looking for a COLLABORATION of equals, not egos.
He certainly didn't treat Gary Cherone as an equal.

Ok, I have no argument with that point. But it's time they came clean with the truth. You don't dump your record label after a quarter century without a valid reason. It's time they told us what's really going on.Eat Us And Smile
