Might I even add "the shame is that you can kill their LOVE for the band and all it's stood for all these years. The continued silence from you and your "camp" and the perceived "FU" toward all of us is enough for all of us to just stop caring anymore. So where does that leave us?

We're watching 2 of your former singers mending fences and touring together and the third forming another band of his own. They obviously haven't forgotten what got them to this point in their careers and want to continue to play for us. For THAT, I will always respect Dave, Sam and Gary...REGARDLESS if their music is any good.

At least they're doing something instead of continually pissing off the remaining fans they DO have.

I tried to keep the VH flame burning with many falses (if thats even a word) and I am truly sorry, but Eddie is burning the bridges and he will become even more of a joke in the eyes of the fans than even Lars, or Gene Simmons.

IMO, many people here need to take a step back and look at the whole VH picture. Nothing is on the horizon. Maybe its time for to develop a new interest.

Like William Shattner said on a SNL sketch many years ago. The sketch took place at a "Trekkie convention" and he told everybody to "Go home, get a life, its just a TV show dammit."

Van Halen WAS just a rock band, a once great rock band that did nothing but decline since the Twister soundtrack and now almost totally obscure.

what if eddie's stopping anyone who makes replica guitars in case bigger companies start making them? kramer have a "1984" guitar coming out. what if they decide to do it in ed's colours? does he say to them "no you can't or i'll sue, but it's fine for these other guitar manufacturers to do it"

i realise they only make about 10 a year but if he took a big company to court to stop them producing it they could defend themselves by saying other companies are allowed.

just a thought

They made a few bucks off something you made...Ultimately, when you look at your checkbook, does it make a real difference? Will Wolfie have to attend public schools because of some guitar enthusiasts? I seriously doubt it...

Most of us are here because Van Halen hasn't been "just a band" to us...The music has meant something profound in our lives...Those guitars are an expression of what VH music has meant to lots of people...And you want to take that away from them?? I don't understand that thinking...

Yeah, legally, you will win because the design is yours...I hope that when you ponder this decision surrounded in the luxury that 99.9% of your fans will NEVER experience, your legal standing is enough justification for what you are doing...Because I'm quite sure it wouldn't be enough for me...

great post, eddie i looked up to you for years and you are killing that. what do you care if someone makes a copy of your guitar you have more then enough money for you and grand kids. i dont know whats wrong eddie, you can atleast clear this up for us. that would mean that you care for the fans. do you?

Since I had a hand in that and have talked at length with them, they don't want to make a striped guitar like Eds and really never did but they can make one in sealer only and you can paint it yourself and they are making one just like that, you can paint it yourself in your own home however you want.
and btw I can still make the guitars just like his
will still sound and play like they did before I just can't stripe them.

Good job, Sacto! I had posted a very similar message in the Rols thread, but unfortunately I was too pissed at the time for it to come out as eloquently as yours did.

Ya know, I REALLY wanted one of Rols' quality replicas, too... now I'm not so sure I'd want one even if he could still make them. The guy I grew up admiring so much who played the originals has been replaced by a very sad, petty and bitter old man bearing no resemblance whatsoever to the God of Cool I grew up wanting to be.

Well, he's certainly trying his best to lose the respect of his fans that's for sure. He sounds like a bitter old man to me with the "if I'm not having any fun anymore then nobody else can either" attitude.
