I just went out to buy Sammy's new CD "Not 4 Sale" and Bon Jovi's new disc (YES I SAID BON JOVI...I've always liked the band.....so let the flames begin - lol )

As I was saying, so I visit Best Buy and they have TONS of Bon Jovi discs but no new Sammy. So I ask the clerk (who verifies on the computer that Sammy's disc was due in today) but they haven't received any shipments. Then I drive to Circuit City and Harmony House and they tell me the same thing, that it's supposed to be out, but they've received none.

The sad thing is, all of the stores tell me that they receive their "new releases" shipments days in advance of the actual release date. So, they've had the new Bon Jovi disc for a couple of days now in the stock room. So, where is Sammy's?

Finally, I go to Borders Books and ask the guy if THEY have the disc. He goes into the back room and comes out with ONE copy. He says, "this is the ONLY ONE we received." Damn!?!

I mean, I accept the fact that Sammy isn't "popular" with the general public any longer and that most likely he'll never come close to selling a gold record as a solo artist ever again. But hey, I still like him & will continue buying his CD's.

BUT WHY IN GOD'S NAME DO I HAVE TO VISIT FOUR STORES JUST TO FIND ONE CD? If I wasn't a diehard fan, I would have given up after visiting Best Buy. That's just horrible marketing.

I went to Best Buy on my lunch break to go pick up the new Sam (and Gov't Mule's new CD and DVD) and just walked out with the Mule, no Sam. I was kind of surprised they didn't have it. I'll try a smaller store I used to work at and see if they have it, they're usually pretty good about getting this stuff.

    How's the Disc? Any good?

From what I have been reading (mainly on these boards!) is that Sam just didn't have his heart into this for whatever reasons... Regardless, if you are going to pump your own money into something like an album, you should at least mnake sure it is properly marketed...

How about just go downlaod it, go buy a bottle of tequila and call it a draw.

If you still feel guilty about downloading the record you can get all looped out on the sauce, cut him a check and mail it to him courtesy of his management!

If you can find it online. I haven't been able to find it online to even download it.

(After I download it, and I like it, I will buy it. Otherwise, I will delete the mp3s)

I know what you mean, I just got back after checking K-Mart and Borders Books, and neither had it. I have to go to class in a few minutes but I'm going to check Fred Meyer afterwards. I don't want to buy it online, but if it's the only way to get it, I will.

I apologize for this unrelated VH question. Dear Rod Dangle, you mentioned that you picked up the new Mule disc.....Any chance I could get a personal review? I'm a huge Government Mule fan and will buy it anyway....just thought I would ask.....Thanks

PS: Wouldn't you just love to hear Edward and Warren jam sometime?

I don't know much about anything but it would seem to me that if he's on the Tower Records owned label, they probably put more effort into stocking the Tower Records stores. Not a great marketing strategy, I know.

Here is one for all of you.The Walmart by me (BFE Florida) had Sammy's album out last Tuesday (10/1).I went to buy The Rolling Stones 40 Licks and they had it out. Also they had 7 copies of it (5 after I bought two)

The point of this being that a Walmart in the sticks had 7 copies, but an area with a Best Buy and Circuit City had none?? That doesn't make much sense to me.The nearest Circuit City and Best Buy's are an hour from me to give you an idea of where I live.People can't buy what they can't get

I haven't gone out looking for Sammy's new disc yet today, but when Ten 13 came out I got it at Best Buy. It wasn't anywhere in the New Release section. It was in the regular library. Best Buy shoppers might want to look there.

At any rate, they had 3 or 4 copies. MO.

Sounds odd. Especially since these days it's all about quanity and not quality and an album needs good marketing behind it for it to sell.

Yep, went to Best Buy to get the new Bon Jovi and Sammy. But no Sammy to speak of, they have it on their website but none showed up in the store. Luckly Circuit City across the street did get it. But only 1 copy. Ten13 was everywhere, I wonder why BMG didnt distribute it this time? I've never heard of the company that did this one...
