All of them. And then there will be tens of pages of Dave could blow him away, Dave got screwed by so-and-so, blah blah blah 1996 all over again. This saga will be legendary for it's redundancy...even in hell.

I wouldn't go.

I still remember going to Monsters of Rock at Giants Stadium in 1987(?) and being bored to tears during the Van Hagar set. I know this is not a popular opinion here, even among a lot of Roth fans. I remember the moment I decided Van Hagar was lame; it was during "Mine All Mine" where Mike, sounding like a schoolgirl who just inhaled a helium balloon, was doing that "Miiiiine Allllllll Miiiiiiiine" back up part over and over while Sammy was prancing around pretending he was boxing. I turned to one of my buds and said, "This isn't Van Halen."

I kept listening to the first six albums, and gave 5150 the occasional spin, and I dug the occasional song here and there ("Finish What Ya Started," "Humans Being," etc.), but I never had any interest in seeing them with Sam again.

But I agree with the 'tards who say that the debate will never end, no matter who is fronting the band. If it was Dave, the Redtards would go ballistic on the message boards too.

I'll say one more thing -- I don't think a lot of fans will go, period, regardless of which singer they support. Unless the Van Heinekens come up with some really, really stellar material that gives fans no choice but to come check out the commotion, a reunion tour will do pretty well but not great. They had their chance in 1996 with Dave, and in 1999/2000 with either Dave or Sammy (Dave would have been the bigger deal, but a Sammy reunion would not have gone unnoticed I don't think), but they blew it. Big time.

Look I'm not a huge fan of any of the former singers... my interests have always been based in the music!!

Yeah yeah yeah... the singers are a part of the package that make it what it is... I know.

But one thing... with the exception of a few bad shows which most artists are not immune to... Van Halen has always been a great live act!!

Contrary to what many on the boards believe... we are not the overall demographic of Van Halen fans. Sure we're mouthy talkative bunch but there a millions of VH fans out there that never come within 10 miles of these internet boards who will go slap down good ole hard cash to see these guys live!! Given the amount of time elapsed and lack of any news... I'd say they get a better response than what they would have had if they came back out in 2000 with whoever...

If the Rolling Stones & Paul McCartney can pack stadiums... it's my opinion Van Halen can too!!!

Your milage may vary...
Woke up this mornin, got Blue Moon in your eyes...

I have not said much about the Sam vs. Dave thing, so here's my two cents. I understand exactly what you're saying. I grew up when Sam was in the band, so I never heard the Dave era (except when I bought the albums). So to me, is isn't such a big deal. However, I understand what you are saying.

To me, if Tool ever got another singer, I'd never listen to them again, never buy another album, never see another show. I believe those four guys make that band, if it were any other than those four guys, I wouldn't be a fan anymore. I relate this way because I'm a Tool fan. My buddies and I have been following Tool for a while. Yes, the bass player left years ago, and they have a new one, but it's Maynard that makes the band to me. (I didn't like the old bassist anyway.)

What I'm saying is... that band has a market, and they have a niche. And without Maynard, there is no Tool. So, I understand for you... with David Lee Roth, there is no Van Halen.
Your favorite band sucks.

Saw Van Hagar 2X. First time, they were ok.
Second time (right before the end), they sucked tremendously! I was highly dissapointed. However, since the topic started with "When" Spammy tours with VH, I'll say this... Don't hold your breath. I think that even the bros know that Spammy's not the answer for the band. Like I said before, they need to get a new singer who's younger, unknown, and has something to prove to the world. He must also have a tremendous ego to deal with Eddie appropriately. I say unknown because then the fans won't have any preconceived notions of how the band will sound. All I know is that when it was announced that Gary was in the band, my first reaction was "What the fuck?!!!". I like Extreem, love Van Halen; Don't like the combination. I saw Van Hagar once! It sucked so bad. Sammy fucking whined and complained all night about his voice being sore. It was the FUCK tour. I wouldn't go see them with Sammy and the fact is that they would be lucky to sell half of the tickets. I guess the fact that all the Van Hagar cd's are in the bargain bin doesn't spell it out for all you Spammy fans
