This is my 1st post, how bout that
Well not really. If you have seen the episode featuring Jerry Cantrell (formally AIC) there is a VH reference, (kinda). During the episode he shows you around his ranch in Oklahoma. He then shows the audience around the game room and shows off some AIC memorabilia. He shows off a picture on the wall of him playing at the Democratic convention for Bill Clinton. Just below that is a picture of VH and AIC, when AIC opened for them.
yeah I'm that sad I picked that up... you gotta look close its a real fast shot of the picture. Jerry doesn't refer to the picture during the show, but its there.
So what is the deal with the picture. I heard on rock line, during the last show of the FUCK tour with AIC, when VH kicked into "best of both worlds" as joke AIC only in their underwear did the 5150 walk across the stage. Someone took a picture of it and Jerry has that framed.
I believe Jerry is friends with the band and eddie and has made a few appearances with the band since.

One of the few times I have actually watched MTV lately was to see Jerry's crib. I love AIC.
I did see that pic. And you know what? He did reference it. It's just those asssholes at MTV edited it out!
Jerry was showing off two pics. The first was a pic of him and the President I believe.
Then right under it was a killer AIC & VH from the 91-92' Tour.. But MTV edited it out.
For all we know Jerry showed MTV the 5150 amps & EVH guitar Eddie VH personally gave him on their Tour and MTV edited that out too.
VH is one of Jerry's biggest heroes and influences, so he was flipping out over opening for them back in 91'.
I even heard him tell a story about how he launched into 'Man in the Box' onstage one night and heard something slighty different about his guitar. Kinda like if it had a very slight delay on it. After looking around he finally noticed what it was - Eddie Van Halen was sitting down in front of the stage, in the sound pit, playing along with him, live, note for note!
He says he almost pissed himself amd collapsed.. lol

Jerry still plays his EB Musicman live! Don't think I've ever seen him play through a 5150 though. I saw that episode of cribs and I remember seeing the VH pic and as Jerry was moving down to it...they cut and move elsewhere. What pissed me off the most is that Jerry didn't get to show off any sort of Guitar/Amp room or mini studio thing. (If he had one)
Right Now...My gf is probably reading my posts.

Yea, he still uses the guitar & amps EVH gave him on that tour. I dont know if he takes the 5150 amp on tour with him. I mean, they where Ed's and I am sure Jerry may be paranoid about taking that on tour..lol.. I have read several times in guitar mags where he says that one of his weapons of choice in the studio is still the 5150 head EVH gave him.. Lucky bastard..

Jerry seems like a good, down to earth guy. I hate when you see those illiterate rappers who can't even form a sentence showing off their "bling bling". It was nice to see that Jerry took in Layne's cat after he passed away.

Every rapper ought to be made to watch MC Hammer Behind the Music before they get signed.
Ten years from now, MTV ought to follow up with those rappers and see where they are then. Back living in the hood with mom with nothing to show for their "fame" except a framed gold record. No residuals from publication becuase they signed them to the label or Master P or Puffy. (of course in I don't expect a resurgance of rap, ala classic rock. I just can't see a bunch of 40 year old guys still listening to old cuts from the Wu Tang Clan. No airplay, no quarterly check from ASCAP)
Fools and their money...

I guess it's one way of keeping a little of Layne with you.

Jerry's great and I love all of Alice's work, especially the EP's and the MTV Unplugged album/video. Has anyone heard Jerry's new double album?

Yeah I heard the new album, I have it. Not bad, its not AIC but pretty good, very dark, pretty heavy. I read a review that said its a great cd to kill yourself to... I guess that sums it up. It was originally to be a double cd, now its being re-released as a double with the extra tunes...

I LOVE AIC.
I will still say to this day, they were WAY better than Nirvana!
Just my opinion. MO."Why behave in public if you're living on a playground?" Fools...

LET'S GO RED WINGS!!! Ten time Stanley Cup Champions...

Hell yea they're better! An EVH-inspired guitarist vs. a heroin addict...who would be the obvious choice? Jerry's a great player.
Is it just me or can you hear most of his influence in the 'Man in the Box' solo.Right Now...My gf is probably reading my posts.

AIC was the 1st band I saw as an opening act that made me want to buy the cd the next day. Hooked ever since. Out of all the Seattle bands of the mid-90's grunge boom, they were in my mind the best and my favorite

He rarely plays the Ernie Ball EVH anymore live. He must have put it away for safekeeping. The only song that Jerry has ever said that he used a 5150 on was "Sludge Factory".The name's Munson. Roy Munson.

I don't agree with the decision to get rid of the carbon tax. I like those rebate checks that we get. But Carney said it was unpopular with the Canadian people, so he has to listen to what Canadian...
