The 25 Best Heavy Metal Bands

    4) Van Halen: Some metallists say these guys aren't metal because they like girls and to party and they cover the Kinks, Roy Orbison and Motown. But have you heard Eddie's tone? He re-taught the guitar for an entire decade and while they lose points for employing Sammy Hagar (whose band Montrose, you'll note, is absent from this list), they did once bring us that ultimate, premium, all natural ham of hams, the great David Lee Roth.

yeah i read his list i don't disagree with his picks that much...would have liked to see Blue Cheer in there somewhere...however i am happy he recognized Kyuss...great fucking band that never got enough credit...(precursors to great stoner rock bands like Queens, Fu Manchu, and Clutch)

Ministry and Tool could have made the mix too (plenty of good real metal bands out there didn't need to delegitimize the list by adding Spinal Tap)

could have done without Aerosmith (just personal preference) i never liked them...would have rather seen Motley Crue in there over them...And i would have put Soundgarden in over Alice Chains (but thats just minor bickering)

but overall not a bad list at all

Good call on Ministry! Those guys just kick! I always wondered why they never really got enough credit as well...

wow....I never knew that Aerosmith was a better "metal" band than Megadeth, who weren't even on the list...

Not a bad list, agree that Aerosmith shoundn't be on there even though I love them to death. I would consider 'Rocks' a heavy metal album, because it came out in 1976. Compare that album to what was released at the time and prior.
