Is it only $$ holding reunion up?

I just read the "inside scoop" in the latest Hit Parader and there is a paragraph about the pending VH/Roth reunion and it basically sums it up by saying that its Dave's demands of a huge amount of money from the album sales.
Something like he gets quite a bit more than Eddie, Alex & Mike would get.

It also says that "Eddie & Dave can't be in the studio together" I don't buy that.

Ifr its about money, they SHOULD give a lion's share for the first album, then once they are re-established they can divide it up evenly if they can all work together.

For (IMO) Van Halen to get back to the top, they NEED Dave to do it.

Sometimes you have to overpay for awhile, then the rewards will fall into place afterwards.

As much as I feel they ALL need each other, I don't think Dave should be negotiating for more than an equal share, but he should get an equal share.

All I can say is that if Dave wants too much money, he is a fool for letting this get in the way.

We dont know this to be a fact, but if he is asking for too much, he should re consider.

But, we are back to the same who is negotiating and who is managing and such...

This sounds more and more like an adversarial settlement rather than a merger. When settling a dispute, it's normal for the parties to play hardball, keep demands unreasonable on both ends, then meet at a figure that neither side likes but will accept. How people can cooperatively create music under such conditions is beyond me. Here, both sides really need each other. Let's hope greed doesn't spoil a possible reunion.

I wouldn't buy into all that hit parader crap. They tend to make news even when there isn't any. It's probably that the guys have different priorities at the moment. Ed's doin the family thing, and Roth seems to be having a lot of fun right now and doesn't need the cash anyway.
I don't imagine Van Halen will wait forever. If a singer hasn't come along within a reasonable amount of time we could possibly be hearing about singer #4.
I just want to hear the new stuff Ed's written regardless of who's singing it.

If Dave thinks he deserves more than 25%, he's an idiot!

And Van Halen would be idiots to give him a lion's share of album number 1, because there's no way there's going to be an album number 2.

With the understanding I'm not a Pro-Roth guy, I don't beleive in the fact that he wants more money than everyone else, I do beleive he wants a signed-sealed-and Delivered contract for which if they decide to bounce him again before the tour is over he's guranteed a certain amount of money. After the Festuch in 96 I wouldn't do shit without a contract either if I was Roth. That's as positive a statement as you'll get from me on Roth. Eddie shouldn't expect anything less than that from Roth's lawyers. The mindset that all we need to do is get together with a handsshake and a Dream has long since passed. To many Egos, to much Bad blood.

I had heard at one time that DLR actually wanted %50...... Granted we don't know what is true here, and we never will. But taking some of this information at face value for a minute, it's time for the plug to be pulled on this farce.

This is NOT the basis for collaborating on music that is expected to compete with their back catalogue. I know they aren't kids anymore, and any situation is going to be a business relationship on some level, but this is ridiculous.

If each guys' version of his (and the other guys) worth is this far out of whack, the level of trust needed to create quality material is going to be unattainable. I'm not at all comfortable with the band writing material, and Dave coming in and painting his lyrics between the lines. It's a short step from this to mediocre songs and performances.

Well, I KNOW in my heart of hearts that DLR needs to be in Van Halen again, but I think that all tour money should be split evenly.

hell, in my mind, Alex shouldn't get shit. If they wanna stick it to mike, alex should have to take a cut--but the only thing I think they should do is compensate Eddie for his studio equipment,, then split the royalties 4 ways like the old days.

i'm going on record saying dave is not coming back. i hope to hell i am wrong, but only time will tell.

i don't think sammy wants to go back, butcha never know.

so right now it looks like sam or #4.

now i just view dave being quiet as his way of making us think he still has a shot of being in vh. he won't say any derragatory because that would kill his chances. so, dave being silent does nothing for us anymore.

Van Halen needs to change their name to Van Bipolar Halen because they are all fucked up. Egos and money get in the way. Even if Dave comes back it won't be for real. They would be doing it for money and to shut our mouths. I'm to the point where I would rather have singer #4 than a half assed reunion.
