Pretty fuckin' ballsy move. An MTV Unplugged with VH woulda been huge, no doubt. Another multi-platinum album to the collection and huge ratings for MTV. But they turned it down! I heard VH was actually one of the very first bands asked to do Unplugged..
Same goes for Woodstock 1994. I believe VH was asked to headline it but they where working on the Balance album and turned down Woodstock!
By the way, who ended up headlining Woodstock 94' then?

I remember the Unplugged story. Eddie said that the music was never meant to be played acoustically.
That's all I heard though - maybe someone else knows more.

Edward didn't want to do the acoustic thing, because as stated above, His tunes were not meant to be played acoustically- Also avoiding the Flavor of the Month routine that a whole bunch of bands were doing at the time- Most bands that did it badly needed to- I think EVH was right on-

Yea, I recall in some Guitar World interview where Eddie said he didnt want to do the "flavor of the month" with his music. He musta known ahead of time it was gonna get out of hand. Acts like Stevie Ray and Clapton where perfect for Unplugged, especially since they are mainly blues based. But soon after it seems like everyone and their sister was given an Unplugged!
Far as Woodstock 94', I heard VH was asked to headline on the day all the hard rock/metal acts where playing. Similar to when they headlined Heavy Metal Day in front of like 400,00 people at the US Festival in 1983.
I know at Woodstock 94' Metallica, Primus, Aerosmith and others where there. I was just wondering who ended up headlining on that day cuz VH turned them down...

I believe Aerosmith was considered the "headliner" for WS 94'.

If Aerosmith did indeed end up headlining then those bastards should send VH a thank you note..lol
Not that those ungrateful bastards would ever do anything so classy. After all, Aerosmith is the band that recently claimed on their MTV Icon show that "thanks in part to their winding down in the early 80's, this cleared a path for new bands like Van Halen to pass them by"... LOL!!!
VH was also refered to as "one of the many bands cast out there over the years to try to take Aerosmith's place, but they just faded away"?!?!?!?
Aero also claim in their book 'Walk This Way' that bands like VH and others where just "filling the hard rock gap left by Aero in the early-mid 80's"... God they are dickheads... Go write some more new tracks for pussies with Britanny, Nsync and other TRL losers..

I can understand why they didn't do an Unplugged. Like everyone has said before, their songs weren't meant to be that way. It would've been cool if they did Woodstock though.
