Starfleet Project - your thoughts?

Some of Eddie's best playing is on this EP, IMO. Maybe is 'cos he's just winging a lot of stuff and it's almost unrehearsed. He was so experimental in those days, I really miss that in the later albums (though I love them too.) To me, it's a better live album than LRHRN. Wadda ya fink?

No doubt !! I remember buying the original album when I heard about it (still have it too). Talk about going crazy the first time you hear it. Man, I went nuts..

Eddie was having a lot of fun and it showed.

Didnt Clapton "diss" on the Blues Breaker dediction they did ?

I think Claptout said "Blues Breaker" wasn't the Blues, or something. He's a tosser for dissing a tune that was dedicated to him in the first place. The whole thing reeks of fun and, anyway, Eddie never thought of it as his Blues Album - just some fun times with friends. I think it rocks big time. [img]graemlins/thumb.gif[/img]

Pretty good album IMO. It really captured that live feeling especially because it wasn't rehearsed. I haven't listened to it for awhile but I think will now. Thanks for bringing it up!

I was kind of dissapointed with it.

I remember reading about it years ago and when I finaly got I guess my expectations were too high.

I have that on an original album from Japan called Resurrection (something like a Brian May EP for 1992's Back To The Light album, to promote it in Japan I suppose.

I've just got these tunes burned from Napster. I actually think they're pretty cool; Star Fleet the song is really dorky, but I like it. Eddie does a bit of the Girl Gone Bad tapping at the start.

I don't have the original "starfleet" but have 3 songs from it. Are there only 3, or am I missing some? They are cool tracks nonetheless.

Yeah, there are just those 3 songs, plus a couple of single edits of Starfleet itself (which ain't too interesting).

The 3 songs, however, were originally released as an EP in 1983, as Brian May & Friends.

Personally, I think "Let Me Out" is an awesome song! Eddie and B.M. really tear up on the solos. "Bluesbreaker" is awesome too. Makes you miss listening to Eddie experiment a bit, doesn't it?
