EVH & Eric Martin??

There's an article in this months Classic Rock Magazine in the UK about the Planet Us project - nothing new appart from a small paragraph saying Eddie is rumoured to be working with Eric Martin from Mr Big - is this a new rumour or have i missed this one?

I remember hearing this rumor first back in 1989 in the German magazine "Metal Hammer". I also heard that he was thougt as the replace for DLR, but then Sam got the job.
Obviously both rumors are wrong and i hope this one also turns out to be false cause i don't like Martin's voice that much and don't think he could handle beeing the frontman of Van Halen.
Although he must have some friends at newspapers bringing that rumor out every now and than, which wouldn't be that bad for promotion.

Yeah Eric's name has been brought up on a couple of occasions. I honestly don't know about this one. I could see him in a Sammy type vein but definately can't see him belting out Romeo Delight or Everybody Wants Some. If you think Gary got lambasted just wait and see what happens if Eric Martin gets the gig. Who knows anymore? It's all just speculation.

Martin is NOT VH material..he was good in Mr.Big for 85% of the songs...especially their 1st album...but you know there was a reason that Paul Gilbert went back to Racer X!!!!! And Sheehan hooked up with VAI!...I can just see the "cheesy name FORD would make if Martin's dream came true:

It is true that Eric Martin went down to 5150 in 1985 to see if things meshed between Eddie & him when Dave left the band the first time. When he was an up & comer in the early 80's he had his Eric Martin Band which played a lot of local gigs in Sonoma County, where he was from. we had a few mutual friends & it got back to me that he had met the surviving members of VH after he had come back from SoCal, but felt uneasy about the whole thing because they (meaning Eddie mostly) were quite out of sorts due to certain substances.
The guy's got a great voice, and he has shown in the past he can rock, but I don't know if I'd plop down 18 bucks for an album....

I remember hearing on the radio before Gary was announced that the band were considering Eric Martin or Gary Cherone, I wasn't exactly pleased with either choice, no offence Mr Cherone.
