VH VAULT Illegal

I have to say I'm pretty surprised/shocked by some of the stuff you can find on VH Vault. Some of the stuff is stolen from VH. The Eddie demos have been stolen from Ed, there's no way he would've let that out, as the perfectionnist he is. Possesion of that record/those "songs" can be assimilated to the possesion of a stolen property, therefore punishable by law.
These "songs", IMO, are not even VH or EVH. Because when Eddie puts out a piece of music, he makes sure it is up to par with a certain quality standard. Some of those unreleased studio "moments" are not, he was just goofing around, practicing with his brother. It was never intended for release.
Some of the so-called VH fans putting out stolen material on the Net don't really have a clue about what they're doing. It's a tremendous responsability. It's not the same as bootlegs.
As a musician (Brett might agree with me on that one), not every note you play is intended for distribution. Sometimes musicians do a thing called "practicing", and they intend that to remain private!

wheewee. Take a chill little dreamer. It just so happens that the band doesnt really give a shit about boots etc.. Hell, they have even listened to them. Good of you to try and be so righteous though.

LittleDreamer, Seenbad's right. I think at one time VH might have worried about it, but they're a well established band. People know they're just listening to Ed's ideas, and know which songs and solos made the cut, but it's still great to listen to what he was playing around with. Taking the tapes in the first place might not have been right, but it's done, and it certainly won't hurt Ed in any way. He's one of the most, if not "the" most influencial guitarist to come along in the last 20 years, and these aren't boots meant to hurt or make money off the band.
You listened to them yourself didn't you?
Ed started out like everyone else, experimenting till he got it right, and we get to hear some incredible experiments. I think it's great, and I haven't heard Ed come out and say anything about it.
I've read where Ed says he's got hundreds, or thousands of idea tapes stashed away, and these aren't even a scratch on the surface, so I don't think it's hurting anyone, especially Ed.

You know you could start a topic on here about favorite unreleased songs by VH and virtually every Links member could name some. Which obviously proves that we've all listened to songs that VH didn't intend for release. So there's not much point pointing the finger at the VHVault when you could point it at all of us.

Really it comes down to whether or not the band wants to press the issue. They could ask for the site to stop having unreleased material on there, and you would have to comply or face legal action. However, I personally don't see any harm in the VH Vault or any other website that has unreleased boots, live boots, etc. If anything, it helps get the music out to more people.
