No disrespect, but that was all coming out of Sammy's mouth....not ed and Al van Heinekin's mouths. Believe it when it happens.

That is the first time I have read Sammy talk about a VH reunion without saying that the VH bros. need to apologize to him.
I also agree that a reunion with one of the singers is inevitable at some point, in some fashion. Maybe both ?
It also seems the VH bros are wasting a lot of time.

It probably IS inevitable that Sammy – and DLR, too -- will play with VH again for at least one night (ex. Rock ‘N Roll Hall of Fame induction). But whether it's a long-term engagement for either of them -- like a full-fledged reunion with Eddie, Alex and Mikey -- or it's just a one-night gig is obviously still up in the air (though a full-fledged VH reunion with Sammy looks more possible now than it did only a couple of months ago, while a reunion with DLR appears to be dead).
BTW, DLR really likes to beat a dead horse, doesn't he?!? He was once again quoted in this story uttering the "Eddie Van Heineken" term, which was marginally amusing the first time he said it, but now after hearing and reading him use it all summer, I find his use of it a little old, tired and gratuitous. Then again, DLR's shtick in concert has remained essentially the same, down to the jokes, since the Carter Administration (maybe even the Nixon or Ford Administrations, if you go back to his Red Ball Jets or Mammoth days). So I guess we should all be accustomed to his inability to show a little diversity.I just find DLR’s continued use of the “Eddie Van Heineken” term to be weak, especially since I think he possesses a ton of intelligence and wit and doesn't need to be so predictable and banal – whether it’s in concert or in his press appearances. Plus, there’s a certain irony to the term being uttered by DLR, who has undoubtedly engaged in his fair share of boozing – as well as smoking and drug use -- over the past 25-plus years, too.
BTW, I think his persistent use of this "Eddie Van Heineken" jab at Eddie is the clearest indication that any hopes for a VH reunion with DLR died in 2000. DLR appears to know this is a fact, though many people on this and other message boards seem to be believe much too strongly that there will ever be a full-fledged DLR/VH reunion."Seems the old folks who come up short were the pretty little kids who didn't want it, no." - Van Halen (1979)

It looks to me like Sammy is just hoping and/or speculating. It may be more, but I'm not reading into anything. I do think however that if Sammy and Eddie tried to work it out, and did what Eddie and Roth tried to do this last time, you WOULD get an album. It just seems to me Ed and Sam click on a scale that Ed cannot get to with Roth anymore. Thats my reasoning on that.

Dear Congressman,
Please use your honorable powers to convey to the dormant band known as Van Halen, to just shut the fuck up, plug in, and play. My hard earned wages have been spent making these gentlemen wealthy over the course of these last 25 years. I have put up with quitters, liars, jackasses, alzheimers patients, and much in the way of urine wasted and dime bags blown, over listening to their product. I would like some relief, either these gentlemen produce something soon, or I intend to file suit,(along with your support), to retreive approximately $5,312.47 in retribution, (booze, pot, records, and cd's) along with the $.47 in damages for pain and suffering.( I listened to VHIII once).
Sincerely,

I think Dave would call Ed this no matter what the circumstances are. I mean, its Dave...he does not care. He's very consistant (and yes, reptetitive) in his delivery. I think this is why Ed and Dave do not get along. Dave calls him a name like van Hieneken, and Ed gets pissed, even though Dave has ALWAYS acted this way. I say, accept people (yes, even people with 'lead singers disease' (Dave OR Sam) ) the way they are and maybe some good will come from it (like some more music!)"No band has come close to duplicating the original Van Halen's truly distinct blend of showbiz bravado and musical ingenuity -- certainly not the band that continues to call itself Van Halen, offering up countless botched reunion attempts and a string of marginal post-Dave albums, and packing arenas just the same." Second, "accepting people the way they are" is a two-way street. You can't expect Eddie to accept DLR the way he is, but not expect DLR to accept Eddie the way he is. But that's always been the problem IMO. DLR knows only one way -- his way -- and he expects everybody else to kowtow to his desires and the way he wants things to be. Yes, Eddie is also like that somewhat, too, as he undoubtedly is controlling on occasion -- especially apparently during the making of "Balance" and "VHIII". However, I think Eddie is more pliable than either DLR or Sammy, who were able to cajole or browbeat him and get their way a lot of the time during their respective stints in the band.

Plain and simple. Dave and Sammy are goofballs. Eddie does not want to work with goofballs.
