Funny thing is that I asked whether the drums are "real" i.e. played by a drummer or programmed few drummers, including one of the banned linkers and the answer was always "human".

Long story short: can you program drums so well, with so many variables, that it gets hard to tell whether the drums are played by a real drummer or drum machine?

Simon? Anyone?

Well, I went to the Wackopedia and I found this:

Vatra (English: Fire) is the fifth studio album by the Yugoslav and Bosnian heavy metal band Divlje Jagode. The album was recorded at Studio RTV Sarajevo, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina from November to December 1984, and mixed at Music Paark Studio in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe, Germany in February 1985 and was released in April 1985. It was the first time that Alen Islamović made an album just as vocal as he was before and vocalist and bassist also. The album contained nine songs with a real glam and hair metal sound, but was also influenced by the sound of Black Sabbath and Saxon, with the occasional Judas Priest riff.

Listening to the entire album, Vatra, it seems to be electronic drums played by the drummer himself, Nasko Budimlić.
3rd tune, Divljakuša - I think this song can help you clarify your doubts, man.



Some good guitar playing there. Pretty much a 1980's sound and musical approach. And since we weren't there, maybe the use of electronic drums would help the production and make the whole recording process a little more easier and cheaper at the same time. Later, the drummer would had to come back and record the cymbals/percussion. It was something common here in Brazil back in the day so maybe other bands were doing that all around the world.

This album above is in the style of Van Halen and... Iron Maiden. Here are two more from them:


More in AC/DC style. The first song is really very close to Sabbath's "Paranoid" though.


A "metal" one.

Discovered their music while on holiday in Croatia. I bought a CD at the beach along with some wine.

Unfortunately, over the years they softened their style... and lost this awesome vocalist. BTW I posted links from "Heavy metal of the Eastern Bloc" - a great YouTube channel if you are interested in "obscure" rock/metal esp. from eastern Europe.

These guys are from Belo Horizonte/MG. If I remember that well, this record was released in 1993. Still a fine Thrash album after all these years!
