If Dave ain't part of VH, somebody better fess up!!!

I don't know about everybody else,but in 1996, I felt duped. VH took advantage of our long-standing hope that DLR would rejoin the band to sell records. I did not hold it against Dave because I think he was as duped as the rest of us. But I refused to even consider buying a copy of III in protest. (Of course, as we all know, it didn't matter much because III wound up sucking wind, anyway).

But now, after nearly a year of silence, if this reunion is not happening, VH and/or David Lee Roth better start fessing up. Both camps know how much us fans are hoping (and praying) for a reunion. If a reunion is not in the cards, it is incumbent upon VH or DLR to set the record straight NOW. We should not be mislead into continuing to hope for something that will never come to be. As fans (I've been loyal for almost 20 years), we deserve better.

I think it will, I can't see them doing this twice in a row, it'll kill them.

Personally, I want to know how/why gary left. I know, he left after a lousy album didn't sell much, but is Gary still REALLY like a brother to eddie, or could they just not write a hit?

I know there's a lot of speculation out there, but it would be cool to hear the truth. (not rumour).

I agree. VH knows that there are many rumors that Dave is back in VH. If he isn't, I wish they would say something, a lot of fans are going to be disappointed if they get a new singer again.

That is my point EXACTLY.

We are interpreting the silence on this issue to keep alive our hopes of a reunion. VH and DLR know this and their continued silence only "feeds the beast." Supposed "concidental" VH/DLR media coverage -- remasters, VH-vintage DLR on Gateway, VH-vintage DLR on Spin -- only reinforce our hopes.

But if VH and DLR know for certain as of September 11, 2000, that no reunion is going to happen (as Sammy alluded to), then Dave, Ed, Mike and Alex owe it to us to be honest and tell us the truth. Anything less is the exact type of deception that Dave ripped Ed for in his infamous open letter.

In a way, I'd rather have this silence than constant updates on what they're doing everyday. Can you imagine the rollercoaster of "Dave and Ed got in a big fight today, and Dave left" followed a few days later with "Dave and Ed managed to talk it out, and are working again." That would fucking suck.

If what Sammy says is true, then its GAME OVER. If that's the case, then be honest.

If it is not the case, make it clear that Sammy doesn't know shit.

In either case, it'd be admitting that they either were working with DLR, or are working with him. I think the idea is not to do either of those.

Now, if they have the album done, wouldn't it be just peachy if they said something like "we're not recording right now." That'd scramble our eggs.

I see your point. But my position is that if the "Dream Is Over" then let us know.

The only inference that I can draw from the silence if we later learn that a VH/DLR reunion was NEVER planned or died months ago, is that everyone stayed quiet to sell a few re-mastered albums.

i hope as much as anyone that there is a reunion,but if there is not and have been no plans for one "IF" then it would be to van halens advantage not to let us know daves not back,also to daves advantage because they arre as much in the limelight as possible... if they said heell no there is no reunion,thats it for the hype.
im editing my post after reading over the one before mine,thats a good point,remember people dave still makes money on the first 6 album sales just like vh.

You know what, I have a really hard time believing that fucking Sammy Shit-Mouth Hagar could be the one to spill the beans on this one. I have an even harder time believing that David Lee Roth would LET Sam the Sham take even the slightest bit of his spotlight without revving up the motor mouth. I think someone had a point here earlier when they brought up the fact that it only took a day or two for Dave to start whistling Dixie after the '96 clucter-fuck. Don't you think that if there were any merit whatsoever to Sam's so-called claims that Dave would be all over it like stink on shit? You're fucking right he would and within hours Dave would have a new band assembled and in rehersal because the man doesn't stand still, bad back or not.
