That Sammy album was very good. I was thinking about VH's attitude about Sam's solo career and realized haw stupid VH has been, (Ed & Al), Mikey used to play in the Waboritas. If they don't want his musical input then at least let him do his thing on the side, or switch roles like they did on INSG album, Sam writes the music and Ed made some suggestions and to me it worked great. I think that's one of the best albums Sam's done. Sams music doesn't sound like VH, so why are they so threatened by it. If Sam wanted to do 50/50 type shows I could see a problem, but he doesn't. He can play at Cabo anytime he wants.
Have you guys noticed that at Sams site there in no indication about what Sams doing next, I wonder........

Ed wanted to play some guitar on "I Never Said Good-bye" but Sam wouldn't let him. Sammy told him it was his turn since Ed got all the fun on the 5150 album. So Ed stayed strictly bass guitar.
I guess it was either a tit-for-tat thing, or Sam didn't want the album's success to be associated with Ed.
I recall Alex saying he would have played on the album if Sammy wanted him to.
That album could have been a true "Van Hagar" album if Sammy had let all of VH play on it. Heck, they could have called the album Van Hagar.

For whatever it's worth - I thought "High Hopes" on Sammy's UNBOXED album was better than most of his Van Hagar songs.

Yeah! That's right. "High Hopes" was a smokin' tune. A real rocker! Eddie didn't like it though, thought it was crap (Sometimes, I don't know where that guy is coming from)
Anyhow, I'd like to give my top ten list of favorite SAMMY HAGAR songs:
1)There's Only One Way to Rock
2)Heavy Metal
3)I Can't Drive 55
4)Baby's on Fire
5)I'll Fall in Love Again
6)High Hopes
7)Rock n Roll Weekend
8)Trans Am (Highway Wonderland)
9)Eagles Fly (the studio version, not the acoustic version that he played at VH concerts)
10)Mas Tequila
Yes, some of them are old Hagar stuff, like "Trans Am" and "Rock n Roll Weekend", yet they're cool stuff.

I'll Fall in Love Again - is one of my favorite songs - bar none (group or artist).
Yeah, I guess Eddie liked what would be later called "Little White Lies" more than "High Hopes". How ironic - Eddie likes a song that is later used to slam him.
What a crack up!!!

I remember Sammy saying Eddie was the baddest bass player on the planet - after that album.
I guess that's before Sammy dumped Ed and made Mikey his best bud.

One of the near winning entries for the Name the Album contest on Mtv was:
In-Halen & Ex-Halen
Pretty funny, eh?

So when you buy this album at the store - is it called Give to Live or I Never Said Good-bye?
Was it ever officially changed after that MTV contest?

Achievements:
I just got this album last week and it's pretty cool. A couple of mediocre tracks but some really good ones too. Give to Live is a good tune but it's better on RHRN acoustic. I must say that Eagles Fly really triggered a memory for me and took me back. Got to love a song that can do that.

Yeah, I thought 'Eagles Fly' was a good song, however, I hated the acoustic version Sam played live. It just put me to sleep or buyed more time to get more beers before the whole band came out.
