i'm in the minority but i didn't think dave sounded as bad as some people are saying. dave has never been known as a great live singer so what's the difference. i agree that he should quit trying the high note it is gone. bottom line if the vh reunion happens i'm going to try to ctch the tour. I thought they sounded ok. Judging a live performance by pretty crappy sounding MP3s is kind of pointless IMO. Everyone who actually went to the shows seems to have had a good time - Dave's playing for the audience not a bunch of over analytical internet geeks.

I haven't listened to any of the MP3s since the weekend of the concert. Frankly, I got sick of listening to them while I was working on them. Takes the fun out of it, ya know?
Anyway, from a perspective of being there I think Dave is just fine. Being there and having all the senses taking things in is very different than listening after the fact. I feel comfortable saying that everyone went home from that show happy, and wishing DLR was back in VH.
Sometimes the rarity of an experience overshadows the flaws some might point out.

Awards:
What I heard they sounded OK. The ones Mike done had a lot of crowd noise, and the 'soundboard' ones sounded badly clipped out, so its hard to use them as some definative measure.
Measure I've gone by is I can't see anyone who actually attended the show complaining, so that'll do for me A little zen....... Headed your way.......

I think Dave sounds like Dave. He really does sound better now, than he did back in the early 90's. IMO !!

I was at the 6/23 show in Minneapolis.
Believe me. His voice is fine. The way some of you guys talk, you'd think Dave had Pavorotti's voice in '79.

For the people that are saying he sounded great, what are you basing that on. Are you putting Dave circa 1981, to the new Dave? Or studio Dave, or compared to his last tour. To me it's all relative.

I don't think Dave sucks on those mp3's, but I do hear things ( ) that are less than flattering. I could point out many examples of him going to the scream and it just isn't there any more. Which is fine, I'm not abandoning the ship because the scream isn't there anymore, but I would advise the captain to cease doing it if it's not there.
I'm pulling for Dave to sound great, and he does sound better than I expected he would. That doesn't mean that it's all roses though.
What I don't understand is people who say you can't judge him from those tapes, and then proceed to say that he sounds fine. Well, judgement is judgement, whether positive or negative. If the mp3's are not a viable method of critiquing Dave's voice, then you can't use them to say he sounds fine any more than you can use them to say he doesn't.
And I'm not a "hater". I don't understand why I'd be dubbed a "hater" because I have a negative opinion concerning any given aspect of David Lee Roth.

Ay! I missed the setlist readings being posted, maybe I'll check out the ND, but has Dave been doing "On Fire" live?
If he is,has he got the scream down on that or is he leaving it up to the "White Lion" guy?In fact does The "White Lion" guy sing all the backups as well as when Dave losses it mid-song or what?..
And does Dave still drink OL NO.7 on stage and does he say "LOOK AT ALL THE PEOPLE HEEEEEERRRRRE TONIGGGHHHHHHHHHT!!!!!!???

Anyone of you who are saying bad things about the way Dave sounds on those mp3's deserve a smack in the face.........Dave sounds GREAT, MUCH better than off the 99' tour and each show his voice sounds better........true he doesn't hit the high note every time he tries, but give the guy a break he's in his 40's and I think he sounds much better now singing all the songs and singing all the words then half assing the singing parts and howling all the time.........there is no way VAN HALEN can say the reason why Dave isn't in is his voice because as you can hear Dave did indeed train his ass of and his voice is in top form........good job by Dave and I can't wait for VAN HALEN to reunite with Dave this fall

Please! Put a circa 1981 boot of DTNA and compare it to Dave today. Then come back and tell me he's back.

I think Darth Maul is a fairly new poster from the Army, so he probably falls into the category of "I think the other VH/DLR message boards suck". The posters at the Army that have been around for a while are cool though.

I have a feeling Tulsi Gabbard will last the longest in Trump's cabinet and will eventually take over MAGA when he's out of office. Sorry Vance, but he's milquetoast. Tulsi is the future!
