Today begins year three of Van Halen Limbo! The third year of ABSOLUTELY NOTHING from our favorite band!
Like many people here, I piss and moan about the nothingness VH has projected themselves into, but will be first in line at Best Buy when/if the new album with Dave is released.
However, I think a lot of fans have given up and honestly, I can't blame them. Eddie is to us fans like that abusive ex-girlfriend - we piss and moan about how we'll never take her back but of course will when/if she comes to her senses!
Meanwhile, Sammy hagar continues to release great albums, tour, have fun and laugh at the comedy of errors his former bandmates have been performing since 1996. And he has every right to...he was screwed over by the Van Halens. Then again, so were we...

I'd say by now we all qualify as professional waiters.
Hell, I'm getting damn good at waiting. I still screw up all the orders though "Just once I'd like to do the right thing and not get punished for it."

Yeah it's sad but I honestly can't see it ending like this. Something will happen eventually and all of us will just have to play the waiting game till then. A proud institution like Van Halen can't call it quits without some kind of last hurrah, at least I hope the hell not.

I'm glad I don't care anymore and have a certain distance between the band (not the past of course) and anything that may have to do with their possible "future."
Wait a second, did I just say the word "future" in a sentence that deals with Van Halen? What the fuck was I thinking..

It was a long time between OU812 and F.U.C.K.
I recall back then wondering what the hell was going on...the tour for OU812 was that Monsters of Rock stadium shit...Sammy was vocal about having issues with performing, etc. I thought it might all crash and burn...but them I heard "Poundcake" on the radio and I knew they were in for another run. In my humble opinion, F.U.C.K. is the finest Hagar-era VH offering. Maybe the time off did them some good.
Perhaps I am being too optimistic, but it is POSSIBLE that after this long, painful, and agonizing delay there will be some killer VH rock and roll. Absence makes the heart grow fonder...and it makes your ears grow fonder too. My fingers REMAIN crossed.

The only difference between now and the wait between OU812 and FUCK is then we knew they had four members in the band. For all we know they've been picking their noses since last July when Dave said it all fell apart.
MA: Shouldn't we record something, guys?
EVH: No, I'm still playing with my magic nose goblins!"Just once I'd like to do the right thing and not get punished for it."

A major difference between this wait and the years between OU812 and FUCK is that now they have the internet, and their own message board and site at their immediate disposal. They are apparently aware enough about the technology to have the site and board, but not generous enough to use it to communicate.

Hey we can always look forward to the next Maximum Golf interview with Eddie next spring or the Mike Anthony exclusive in Hot Rod Digest.
