The Battle

I think there might be a battle with the Van Halen bros... where they might be wrestling with the inner passion as musicians and artists to take their art (songwriting) to a level that they or their audience have not experienced before against the notion of relying on past acomplishments and creations (old songs, songwriting styles, and formulas) for expression. Maybe Ed and Al want to take =VH= to a level that they think best represents their artistic vision and value. It would be interesting to understand what their dad, Jan Van Halen, taught them at a early age of what a musician is and should be for themselves as well as their audience. It could explain why they have had such a hard time with singers...maybe they're just frustrated artistically. Maybe that's why Ed visits a therapist. Maybe Van Danniels (as FORD would say) was such a disaster..Ed's been frustrated...he has music to express that's in his head but his audience won't accept it unless it's in the style of 1981 and Ed doesn't want to regress back to those emotions because he was so out of it...he wanted to tell everybody to f*ck off and join KISS. To me...I don't give a sh*t what they feel... I just want some riffs...
