In my opinion, Van Halen was the best with DLR, but I liked DLR's solo stuff, as well as Van Halen with Gary Cherone. Who put out the best stuff after the spilt in '85?

Van Halen all the way for me, had to think about VH3 Vs DLR Band though...
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

If I was asked this question back in `87 I would have said Roth solo but these days I`d say Van Hagar . Still , DLRs Eat Em an Smile kicks some serious ass!

Definitely VH for me as well. I liked Roth's first two solo albums and then he pretty much disappeared for me until I got his greatest hits and I stumbled across some tracks from the later albums that I liked.

That would be me. If DLR were ever in VH or not, Skyscraper is still one of my all time favorite albums period. I just love the music with the exception of "Stand Up" which is the worst song ever by DLR IMO. I think that the group of musicians were stellar and I love the different departure that Roth, Vai, Sheehan and co. took on that record.

    That'd be me as well....

They both had solid songs on them, but When It's Love" scarred that album for me. The best songs off OU812 were Black & Blue & A Apolitical Blues...
Q: Recording the album took so long your Australian tour last year was cancelled. What was it like in the studio? There's a history of tension between you and Eddie Van Halen...

DLR: It was like a stand off in a Chuck Norris movie. We each had the laser dot on everybody's forehead waiting for the other guy to blink. Except for Wolfie, he had a Super Soaker ...

I must agree with The Great Hecubus. I think that OU812 had some moments, but as a whole it was not that great. Black and Blue kicks ass, I love that song. AFU and Cabo Wabo are also great. But the lyrics on "Source of Infection" are terrible. They are embarassing. Personally I think "Feels So Good" is one of the biggest steaming piles that Van Hagar ever did. That mixed with the mid section Michael Anthony cries on "Mine All Mine" didn't help the album much either. It could have been alot better IMO.

I went for VH on all counts but the ALAE Vs F.U.C.K. one. I don't find that Dave's 80s tunes have aged as well as VH's; they're pretty cheesy to my ears. I went for ALAE since I'm such a huge Jason Becker fan, and I think the album is pretty under-rated. And while I like some of the tunes off F.U.C.K., it just lacked the sort of vibe that made me play the other VH records over and over again. Granted, I don't listen to ALAE all that much, but at least I didn't end up trading it...

I must say though, I'm surprised that VH3 is ahead of DLR Band. I figured I'd be one of maybe 5 people who would vote for VH3.
