Does Mike Anthony Really have the Brothers Full Blessing ?

Ok, we all know that apparently EVH agreed for Mike to work in the Planet US band. But Im not so sure he had the brothers blessing for all the other activities with Sammy. Some say the brothers considerd the Dave/Sam tour as a bit of "Fuck you" to them. If thats the case do you think EVH would have been happy about Mike appearing on this tour with Sammy. Dave wouldnt have anything to do with this, and I think Dave knows something.

Now Mike is hanging with Sammy at every oppurtunity and involving himself in far more than just the agreed upon Planet US project. Now we are hearing that Mike has not even been contacted for quite some time.

Has Mike gone beyond the brothers wishes and pissed them off ??

Who cares if he has their blessing or not, atleast he's out there doing something... it would drive me nuts not being able to do anything, I'm just glad he's able to do something and not have to wait around for this whole Van Halen thing to start doing something again.

I totally agree with you. I think we are all glad he is finally doing something. But its not us that makes the decisions regarding Van Halen.
Perhaps the brothers are less than impressed and
may even see this as an act of defiance.

In all honesty, if Vh had something that was "upcoming", I don't think Mike would have or would have been allowed to stray from the band.

But with no singer, no label, no album, and no timetable for the future, what are they going to tell him?

Are you saying that Dave didnt want to piss Eddie off by playing with Mikey? hmmmmm, interesting new spin on it. I thought it was that Dave didnt want to jam with anyone or that Mike didnt want to play with Dave. I can't imagine Dave not playing with Mikey because of what the brothers would say though.

From the way it sounded, or maybe just speculation on the board, Dave didn't want to play with Mikey out of respect for VH as a band...

Why should Mike care? It's not like the brothers still have a band or anything. Mikey is a hired gun, and the band that has hired him his whole career doesn't exist anymore, so I'd say he's free to do whatever he wants.

Maybe Eddie and Alex want Mike to quit and just dont want to hurt his little feeings by telling him themselves, so they just wait for him to quit, like Gene and Paul did to Eric Singer and Bruce Kulick.

Ed & Al agreed for the Planet US thing, but not the Sam & Dave tour.
Mike hesitated, but in the end did what he wanted and did the tour, even though the bros told him not to. He was just tired of waiting around and doing nothing.
I don't know how they reacted to that.
If they're smart, they realized Mike was right in joining that tour, making a lot of fans happy.

I think Mike had no plans to join DLR onstage alone. With VH, that's another story.
Mike's no friend of DLR, and blamed him for the failure of the 2000-2001 reunion attempt.
That's all I know.

Hate to dig up a musty old skeleton out of the closet, but Mike did say in Arizona that this time we're doing it with Dave, so maybe after that little teaser and the way it wound up going over like a turd in the punchbowl, it was agreed by all that he shouldn't go on stage with Dave, if for anything else to make it look like everything did fall apart and Dave was out of the mix. We need to remember, it's not all about our perception, but how a certain little rat from Canada thinks things are going too. Until someone in the loop tells me otherwise, FUCK that piece of shit cocksucker for fucking up our band!

I dont think it matters what Mike is doing, he would drop whatever he was doing and get right back to 5150 if and when called upon.

I am sure Mike called and told the VH bros. what he was up to, and figured if they are bitter, oh well.

Mike is as important to the Van Halen sound as Ed and Al. If he is not in there, its really not Van Halen anymore, IMO.

Mike said in an interview that he didn't want to play with Dave on this tour. I don't know if Dave would have allowed Mike to play with his band if Mike had asked, but it's pretty clear to me that Mike didn't ask. For whatever reason, he wanted to play with Sammy and not Dave.

Shock, I heard it from Mike himself last May.

At that time he said he "wanted to do the Sam & Dave tour, but couldn't".

Maybe the bros actually changed their minds, seeing how frustrated and angry Mike was, they let him do the S&D tour. That would be my explanation, actually.

But it's only speculation, I donno for sure what happened and prompted the change in MA's plans...
