Dave said after learning of Eddie's cancer that he would see him "down the road".
Brad has stated on the pleasure dome page that it will re-open a little later "down the road".
Hmm. Can't we drive ourselves even more nuts and turn this into the latest hidden messaging rumor somehow? "The reason most critics prefer Elvis Costello to Van Halen is......most of the critics look like Elvis Costello." DLR

I really think they're all fucking with us. I'm pretty sure Sammy or his webspokesperson just used that same wording in a post I read somewhere recently. As usual, I have no idea where that post is, and would appreciate anyone with any memory whatsoever posting it here, as well as Dave's and Brad's "down the road" statements if for nothing more than to keep them neatly sorted in one detailed file ala the Terminator.
John 3:16, Can You Dig It?
People, the 6 wings of the Mighty Van Halen will fly again! Can You Dig It?
You gotta give more than you take! Can You Dig it?
And underneath the arch, it turned into a march,
and there He found a spark to set this fucker off!
Set it off, set it off now children, set if off!
We are down the road! I Can Dig It! Can You?

The road probably leads to late 2003 or 2004 because if Mike records an album with Planet Us at the end of this year and tours, he probably won't be back in the studio with VH until that time.

it's like everything is tied into a friggin' conspiracy theory around here...

Twonabomber, I think I'm the lone conspiracy theorist left around here. I just think if a reunion is on like Mike said, they will have a little fun with it while the red tape runs its course and Ed heals up and waits for school to get out. I'd hate to think that if Ed can go back on things he has said that Dave couldn't do the same. I say this only in reference to a possible Dave and Sammy tour. Imagine Eddie just wanting to do the following:
1. Get well and make music
2. Make amends with the 2 singers he made great music with in the past.
3. Do one more record with each of them and a tour with the two of them.
4. Live the rest of his life knowing he did what he could to satisfy what the fans who supported him for so long wanted.
Eddie knows he can make great music with each of them, it's just a given. Eddie knows he can make great music with other singers as well. But the one thing he isn't sure of right now is how long he'll be making music. Before the cancer, he as well as most of us thought he'd be jamming forever, but this a big reality check, one that shows us we are in control of nothing in the whole scheme of things. I think if he could work out the personal problems with both Dave and Sammy, the music part of the relationship would more than take care of itself.
I know it's far fetched, but at one point Ed and Dave working together again after the BOV1 seemed pretty out there as well as the idea of Mike working outside of VH with Sammy with Ed and Al's blessing. I doubt this is the case, but it's just as possible as any other scenario. I bring this up only because even when Ed is given a clean bill of health, we can only pray he stays cancer free. If he could work out his problems with Sammy and Dave, and it got to the point where he asked them to do this, not for them, but for all the fans who supported them and also in honor of the great music they made, Dave or Sammy would either one be out of their mind not to go along and be part of the greatest thing that could ever happen in rock and roll.
I've always hoped for a reunion with DLR, can more than live with a reunion with Sammy, and would dig the shit out of the Dave and Sammy thing if it ever happened. Mike said in the fanclub interview that if that ever happened it would be a farewell tour, I think. Until they start charging me for thinking this shit up, I will continue to brainstorm until the band tells us what's up. It's about the only thing keeping me interested at this point.John 3:16, Can You Dig It?
