Interesting interview and pics of the man who was the originator of 90% of the shtick that DLR uses to this day. Dave really should send this guy a check.

I believe if I remember correctly, Dave use to run around with Black oak arkansas at one time...

Hey Hemp,
That is a cool comparison. I have never really even seen those guys or heard anything but that one song. That is very interesting. I'm sorry to get off the subject, but aren't you the least bit worried about next Monday night? The Broncos haven't lost to the Raiders at home since Shanahan took over as coach in 1995.EAT US AND SMILE!!!!

Dave was never one to not recognize Jim Dandy as one of his influences. He's said it several times in interviews. Who doesn't have influences? Everyone does you just make your own persona out of them. Eddie did it, as did Dave.

Funny how 4 games in, Al Davis was a genius for staying in the org and promoting Callahan, 4 games later, the new coach appears to be losing his hold on the team with too many players (Garner, Tim Brown, etc.) complaining about their individual contributions.
I think the O will get back on the same page, but I don't know if the defense can get it done. Romo looks old and a step behind, the secondary's unstable because of injuries, and we can't generate a pass rush without blitzing (thanks for nothing Darrell Russell).
At this point, my only hope is that the old Raider Monday night mystique returns in time for their 500th telecast."Some men are born to greatness, some women have greatness thrust up in them."<br /> <br />Diamond Dave

Sorry man, but I'm hoping for the Mile High magic to take place. Now you can see why Shanahan wanted to get rid of Romo. As for Callahan I agree. Grandma Davis shouldn't have let Chucky go to Tampa. I think he could have lit a fire under the team's collective asses. Best of luck for you, and may the best team win. I think that it will be The Broncos though.EAT US AND SMILE!!!!

He may have been an influence, but DLR w/ VH was one of a kind, never to be forgotten.
Someday they will get their due as an influence on music as great as Elvis or the Beatles. There's no denying that they will remain legends.WHAT IS UNDERSTOOD NEED NOT BE DISCUSSED!

Hi OU812Max,
Check out the NFL thread so I don't keep dragging this thread off topic"Some men are born to greatness, some women have greatness thrust up in them."<br /> <br />Diamond Dave

Good drinks, warm weather, easy living, theme bar-restaurant, branding a "lifestyle" and using the music to sell a whole host of other things to your fans.

Being a former resident of Memphis, I use to run into Big Jim Dandy all the time. Dave borrowed some things from Big Jim, there's no doubt about that, but he refined them and made them his own. Much like EVH....Ed didn't invent the stuff he did...finger tapping, whammy bar dives, etc., were already around before anyone ever heard of EVH. Oh, and Edward wasn't the first to stripe a guitar either. However, Ed and Dave took what they learned and took it to the next level...a level which has yet to be topped in my opinion. Ed and Dave created a style....but neither invented a damn thing.
